I have one of the smaller 3.5" Roadmate's and its been a real love/hate. I love all the things it does correctly of course, but...
Two problems are interelated. Time and Display mode. Starting with display mode. The Roadmate's change display from black background to green at sunrise and sunset based on local time. I'd prefer it be black all the time or at least have a light sensor. It becomes a real annoyance because the time setting on this thing makes no sense. I have to reboot the unit to get the time correct and then it runs slow, after 24 hours it will be off by 5-10 minutes. Currently its off by 11 HOURS and at night I have the green screen daylight display mode. Lucky me.
Map accuracy. Right. I can somewhat understand local road mistakes but how exactly did they miss the ENTIRE length of US 30's new 4 lane in Ohio?? ("new" meaning about 5 years old)
How about being routed down a road thats had a bridge closed for nearly 15 years? Or a +45 year old road with half of it not being in the system at all?
Google maps have it right, Mapquest has it right, Rand McNally has it right.. WTF?
