Heading to orientation this afternoon. As an experienced driver I hope this is a good choice. Is Magnum known as a starter company? I don’t like to train just want to my thing.

Magnum is self insured so they can be more accepting of people they think are worth the roll of the dice.

As for knucklehead drivers, we all were new to this at one point. Some probably had an easier time than others. Companies shouldnt rush people into being on their own, and id like to see more companies have finishing schools like averitt. You spend a whole week doing nothing but various backing maneuvers.

Then you also have CDL schools with ####ty instructors...

Like the school in Florida that didnt train drivers correctly, falsely passed drivers. If i read the story right, the state is having the drivers retest both the book and driving portions.

Magnum has a good training program. It is a starter company. But it’s also a good company for drivers who don’t need their hands held every day.
The key is....get some drivers phone numbers. Especially the regulars here. ASK questions if you need to. The one really nice thing at Magnum is the majority of drivers don’t mind helping a fellow driver out.
I’m hoping to find that atmosphere at the company I start at tomorrow.

Thanks @carramrod32 ...Greensboro is a bit far, about 50 miles. But there is a terminal in Raleigh/Durham area. They weren’t hiring last Time I looked. It’s a thought for the future.... I’ll need to get my doubles endorsement.
We shall see how this new company is. It’s only 25 trucks, more hometime than I was taking, interesting cargo, and seems like a great atmosphere.

That happened to CR England out here in Kommiefornia in 2005. The DMV unlicensed like 600 of their graduates. Canceled their CDL and made them come back through a DMV roadtest. I was just getting my license and while I was doing the yard test one of their trucks pulled in. Looked like the proverbial clown car as they had about 6 guys in the truck all coming to retest.

Yep, believe that's the one. Reported it already, glad you got it back to Fargo to get it fixed.

Now I'd like to find the guy who left me this Carrier with all the alarms on it at Gaylord. Probably why I'm a bit cranky.

I take solace in the fact that they all got fired and are now working with you.

Sounds to me like you've lucked on to a sweetheart gig, especially after the bait and switch. Be sure to give us an update.

btw, blizzard warnings out for Fargo, bet you feel better already, eh?

    ncmickey and carramrod32 Thank this.
