The new Pete's are the 12 speeds. If you like all fuel economy plastic that comes with, awesome. The 12 speed transmission is kinda cool. It skip shifts up and down, and the engine brake is a beast. Still slow to shift, and insanely boring to drive unless you want to sip coffee when the light turns green. My truck had the cat engine one it though, not the paccar, not sure how much that changes things. It also had the Bose seats which was awesome. For what it's worth, and I cant believe I'm going to say this, but the freight shaker I drive now is more comfortable than the 579 day cab I had.

I still refuse to drive an auto, and love that my company isn't buying them. Magnum did teach me good fuel economy driving though. Currently ranked 1,239 out of all our drivers which is pretty darn good for city driving and all. I guess after a year they do special training for fuel economy. Not sure why they wait so long...

Honestly more concerned about the trans. Had an 18 Cascadia at my last job...she had 22miles on the clock and 78k when I left in August the trans was beyond stupid especially bob tailing or dead heading! Will also admit not a fan of PACCAR but not my choice. Personally don’t mind plastic but will say this whenever my new one comes those stupid plastic hub cap pieces of crap on the drives are coming off ASAP

The trans seems solid, I'd race mine #### near. Paid by the run so I was hell bent on making it as short of a trip as possible. I'd run that truck 69-70. Then coming off the highway I'd kick it into super engine brake and watch the rpms climb for full engine brake. Basically didnt even need to touch the brakes.

I love my 10 speed. Shift up at 1100 rpm and fly through the gears. Good luck with the plastic coming off! Lol

I’ve never had them say anything.
If you stay above 70 too long you get a warning on the peoplenet.
I’ve had it up to 80 but of course he speed limit was 80..

The Freightliners allow companies more direct control over the settings than the Paccar so your 12 spd might be more palitable than the one in the Cascadia...so long as you’re OK with it being an automated box and are cool dealing with the limitations that come with that.

The 12 spds are so much better than the automated 10’s though so it would be worth the wait.

Far superior than the 10s IMO. Still wouldn't want one in the mountains or in slick conditions though.

The thing about the auto's in snow or wet roads and even running on dry roads across mountains, you be the boss and put that sucker in manual. At least you won't get surprised by an unitentional wheel spin it worse.

Talked briefly with oncologist today and once I'm done with chemo cycles in early December, he will sign off on going OTR again as long as I can get in at least every 4 to 6 weeks for blood work and other monitoring. Stage 4 colon cancer and after 9 cycles of chemo, no active cancer cells detected. Talk about dodging a howitzer round! So...what's up your butt? Believe me, you don't want to live the way I have these last 8 months!

Good to hear the news continues to be favorable for you, and that you’ll be back out here with us crazies!

In the mountains I typically selected manual for decents and auto for climbs, in slick conditions really the computer did a fine job...it’s just more fun with the 13 spd manual I drive now, but other than the boredom and some backing issues, the AMT’s are fine...

Do you guys have 2 arm rests for captains chair? Might sound stupid but with just one an having to like lean over toward the door I get like a pinched nerve feeling after a while an trust me it aches and is a pain

IF you’re a Magnum driver (as I take it you are) just call Jeff in the Fargo shop and ask him to order you an armrest for that side. Let him know when you’re gonna be in Fargo or CR and they can install it for you.
