This Fella had a Female/Wife with him, guessing he was somewhere around 60ish

Just drove a truck for the first time ever!

Got into a day-cab with no trailer. Did okay, had a hard time downshifting but it'll come with time. Overall very happy with how I did for my first ever time!! :D

Certainly comes with time. At some point, driving a standard becomes second nature to you, and a lot of fun. Those day cabs with no trailers are frickin' rockets!

Got done with the book chapters today a little early from everyone else, so I got out with Dave and did more shifting. Went really well, my upshifts were really good! My downshifts were a lot better, feeling the gate before I try to put it into gear was helping a ton because I could feel when the gear was open and ready to shift vs guessing off of the rev range.

Pre-trip is going well, focusing on the outside of the cab right now. Did 2 run-arounds this morning, and it's going well. Bent broken cracked, abrasions bulges or cracks, properly secured!

Are they teaching you to float or double clutch?

Float. I'm loving it so far. So much easier than double clutching.

EDIT: If anyone is in Coon Rapids in the next month, stop by the conference room in the office and say hi! :)

Nice hearing someone training in Coon Rapids. Used to see them. Give them a thumbs up and smile.
On chains.... Definitely... Wash. requires 7 chains. 5 on the wheels. 2 spares. Verified with Wash. port of entry.
Wish you guys the best. I remember that time as some of the best. I had a blast OTR. Loved it.
Do have to admit. It wasn't the healthiest. Just getting my legs back now. Maybe I just always pushed too hard? 3 1/2 months out with no home time...well. ???
Oil Field is working out....slowly. Rocky start. It sure does pay. That's for sure. I get home every four days also. For 2 days.

Shifting rhythm is learned, the song superstition by Stevie Wonder is the perfect beat timing to shifting a big truck... Just saying... This was advice I got from an old timer with 40+ yrs experience...

Now Coon Rapids is gonna be blessed by Superstition blasting from the training truck all day long. :laughing-guffaw:
The Jostlers are obviously driving by "Wipe Out".
