I’m quoting Tony, guess you know more about it then he does.
According to him only drivers with issues will have inside facing cameras, but when I asked him what happens if I get there and I’m given a truck that already has it from the previous driver, he didn’t have an answer. My guess is they will all have them eventually.

if you're having issues they're not going to put a rear-facing camera in your truck... your tail is going to be fired. bottom line is this... every truck will have a front and rear facing camera with Magnum. they actually eavesdrop while you're driving even before they put rear facing cameras in the trucks. They have two microphones on each A pillar inside the truck. they will listen to your conversations. How do I know this? I was on the phone with my ex-wife and I was pulled over for speeding in a construction zone in Minnesota and I immediately got a call from a dispatcher asking me why I was just pulled over. there's no way in hell they would have known that I was pulled over without them eavesdropping on my conversation. You know what I did soon there after? I put in my two week notice and I quit.

remember this...as an over-the-road truck driver that truck is your home. it's a mobile apartment. Your privacy should be respected. companies claim that those rear facing cameras that are pointing right at the driver is only activated when there's an accident or a sudden incident. that is total BS! how did Magnum know that I was talking to other companies so that I can get a local gig to where I can be with my daughter more? how did they know about the Police pulling me over right afterwards? yeah they were eavesdropping and that kind of crap I lost all respect for them. even my own trainer told me about those microphones on the a-pillars. I thought he was full of it being paranoid. he was right.

I guess it doesn't matter if no one calls you out on it? if the tree falls in the woods and nobody is around does it still make a sound? that makes it even more creepy

All I can say about them is that they ate currently allowing me to send my last 2 daughters that are in the house to private.
And allowed my wife to stay home with them

Sure. I never left because I thought they were a bad company. My reasons were multifaceted. Biggest was I wanted more miles and to sit less. They upped the cpm and upped layover which goes a long way. I was just given other opportunities that made more sense big picture. I'm not interested in divulging the specifics at play but I don't regret it. My situation is great. I love where I work and what I do. Just sitting here slowly learning to back combos now lol. It all becomes boring sooner or later.

I still recommend Magnum to people when applicable.

Made perfect sense. He is happy and the company keeps him running with the ability to take care of his family and plenty of flexibility to be home when he wants. Everyone has their reasons. However; the driver facing cams is BS, no excuses. They come standard on our peoplenet units and we keep them covered just in case. Reasons why I have no interest in working for a company that micromanage like that.

Would love to hear more about these A pillar microphones or for someone to validate the accusation. That is too far and absolute BS if true and no one should tolerate that invasion.

a little piece of tape does a lot to muffle a mic and distort an image
