I got both of my stops off by 1230, and was given my next load assignment. Dead head 272 miles to Dover, Delaware for a load that loads tomorrow, going to Aurora, Illinois for Thursday. They have me tentatively scheduled to reload in Aurora going to NC to get me home for my hometime on Saturday.

 

I dropped and hooked this morning in Dover, Delaware and made it to Youngstown, Ohio before shutting down. It's been a few years since I have been through Youngstown, I had a little spot I used to like to stop at, I wasn't sure if it was still here, thankfully it was. Great food, and a great atmosphere.

 

Hmm, so your keeping it a secret?

 

No secret, a place called the Icehouse. A place behind the pilot at 223B on I 80. It used to be a favorite spot during the football season. Tons of TV's, a food selection you wouldn't except to find in a sports bar. A 2nd bldg across the parking lot with 20 pool tables, and a third beach bar with a volleyball court. I have never had a bad meal there.

 

Made my first drop this morning at 0430 in Black Mountian NC... And made my fourth and final of the day at 1600. Had just enough time to drive close to the house to my lil hidey hole and get some dinner with the wife... Just enough time to get in a 10 hr break and drive to my 5th and final drop at 0400 in Goldsboro NC. Made a nice chunk of change on detention and additional drop pay today...

Years ago I got laid over and parked at the TA at that exit. Wound up at the bar across from the TA, place was a dive.

 

I was supposed to deliver tomorrow at 0830, I called the customer and asked if I got there today would they unload me. They couldn't make any promises, but would try and work me in, I arrived at 1400, and was empty at 1500. I'm loading 6 miles away in the morning going to Winston Salem, NC. I got here before they left, checked in, backed into a door, dropped my trailer and ran up to Wal mart to grab a few things. Last time I was here a few weeks ago I was loaded within an hour, hopefully the same applies tomorrow.

 

Made my 5th and final stop this morning in Goldsboro. Was gonna be done and head home. I got a call yesterday though from dispatch. They wanted to know if I would stick around Goldsboro for a few hours and get a load out of Mission Foods. Bring it down to Greensboro and drop it at our yard for another driver. Im a team player. So I did. Made alittle extra jack too...lol Got home bout 6pm instead of 9am.....
I was out exactly 3 weeks. Had over 9000 miles, less than 10,000 . I'll have to add it up to know exactly how many.
Gonna head back out Monday or Tuesday...till then... smell ya later!!!!

 

Sitting at the customer in Winston Salem, NC waiting to get unloaded, then heading to the house for a few days off. It's been a productive several weeks, looking forward to going home recharging and hitting it hard in May. Hope everyone has a safe and productive weekend.
