What would you guys do? I hadn't even considered going around from the north. It's 6 miles shorter and by not having to navigate Chicago or Milwaukee I can't help but wonder if it's really that much slower. I imagine it's at least more scenic and less stressful. Downside, it includes a hefty stretch of two lane road. Thoughts?

Northern route? Through upper Michigan? Mackinaw bridge has tolls, but beautiful drive. Break down up there and it could be a nightmare.

I believe you guys are right. Just seeing the possibility of avoiding the Chicago area got me all antsy in the pantsy there for a minute. I have no doubt it's more truck friendly though.
