Someone going to pay layover pay for this. Not my fault, and I believe the shipper is trying to pull one over.

I don't bother except at load and unload. I'll respond to Coyote's text msgs. I declined their "offer" to use my cell phone as a tracking device.

I believe Coyote is new to us. They'll figure out to call dispatch soon enough if we ignore them. -They can waste someone's time who is paid hourly or salary, TYVM. Load and unload I understand, as well as as of course, any problems. I have better things to do than call them every morning with a report. Like drive and get paid.

I tried to explain this to a Coyote dispatcher and it was like talking to a technical support guy in Pakistan.

Don't accept layover. If you are at the place you were dispatched and the place is rescheduling you, that's detention, not layover. Detention is when we are early or sitting around without a load. It's in our contracts with shippers. I have seen a few of them. So you're not doing Magnum out of anything by insisting on the $15/hr /150 per day. They make a LOT more than that.

You'll go on a trainer's truck for 4-5 weeks. Basically you are going to have a new best friend for several weeks who will teach you how little you learned in school. It's not a bad thing at all. You'll be very glad you did it and that your first company has a formal training program, because trust me, you are NOT competent to be on the road solo right out of school.

IIRC they pay $75 per day on your trainer's truck. It's enough to live on the road and pay minor bills, that's about it.

I was with Dave Largent, after 10 months driving flatbed and log truck and tanker. I HATED it because I really didn't need to be taught how to drive, and Bless him, Dave was busy teaching me to drive the first couple of days. I was ready to strangle him, but we developed a good relationship for the other 7 days I was on his truck. He's moved on, but we still talk once in a while.

The training program is pretty good for a noob out of school. You will do all the driving, which is great. If you need any help with training or if you're having any issue with your trainer or the program, don't hesitate to PM me.

    Welcome aboard!

Today I was in Coon Rapids getting a PM1 and a drive tire fixed so I spent the day in the drivers lounge. Met a guy from Burlington, nc and the guy driving the lone LTD Freightliner.Tony Doll also dropped by the drivers lounge for a little while today.

Delivered my load in Eagan, now I'm down in Gaylord. I was hoping my load would be ready but unfortunately it's still in the door so here I wait. First drop at US Food in Oklahoma City at 0600 on Wednesday so I need to get a little ways down the road tonight.

Anybody ever deliver to Marathon Cheese? They sent me up the street to a little unmarked warehouse in a residential area and my truck took up 80% of the street. Not one person returned my friendly wave as they crept past the nose of my truck.

Speaking of this, I have no delivery address listed and Google won't even give me an address. I called the broker this morning told her I was getting loaded at this time, and had all the info I needed except for a delivery address.

She says "I am unable to give you this information at this time because you are not loaded. Once you are loaded you can call back and get the information."

I had to try really hard to bite my tongue! I almost gave her a few choice words.

On the good side, I have ascended to a rank of Top Secret Driver. I'm hauling a load of ultra secretive, safety sensitive corn!
