Well, I was going to end up taking it out to hurry up and push thru Baltimore. My load ended up being drop and hook. Got 40 minutes down back roads to a small old mom & pop truck stop with a scale on US 301 in MD only to find out that I was just shy of 700 lbs heavy on my tail with tandems back as far as legal. Had to turn around and head back to PPG to get reworked. I will be out of hours by the time they are finished and they wont let me stay in a door until my 8 hour split is up. So, looks like I am headed to a rest area 7 miles up US 13 and then back up and around to the north.

Two loads in a row that were preloaded and loaded too heavy in the tail to comply with 41' bridge. Both errors causing me to deliver late. Can we make it a hat trick? Oh and had to spend an hour and a half at PPG trying to fix the pneumatics on this trailer in the rain so I could even slide the tandems from the rear.

Eek! HATE having to get reloaded. Always takes forever and the shipper invariably tries to blame the driver.

Bridge law? If you are not going to Cali roll with it. 20 years otr and I never been hassled because of that. You are shooting yourself in the foot. But it's always better to be safe then sorry. If u don't want to put any miles under your belt..

Really? Because I see it all the time in states where max king pin to center of rear axle distance is 41ft. If you want to risk the ticket having your tandems set at 43 feet to be legal weight, when the tightest state law where you have to run through is 41 ft, then go for it. It's not worth the money out of my families pocket. We have 41' clearly marked on our trailers. DOT sees that while passing you, or rolling thru a scale, that is instant revenue.

I couldn't name a state other then Cali who gives three craps about a bridge law, but if getting reworked and being late is what keeps the family fed. More power to you.

Heck I can't even remember hearing people complain about bridge law tickets. But you live and learn. God bless and good night.

Sad part is, after I got loaded I called back and answered more questions for them, then I asked for the address. She says "Does it not say on the shipping papers?" yes lady, it says what business I'm taking it to but no physical address.

Guess what, even they didn't have an address for the receiver.

Called the receiver got the info with much less headache!

Sitting at receiver now. Unload in the am. Then head to Evansville for a p/u headed to Atlanta. Another short load with a quick turn around. I love it!

Yeah, I have seen DOT measuring trucks in MD, NJ, PA, IL, WI, MN, and UT. Some may luck out, some cops may not even care, but I will take detention pay over a possible fine any day. Works for me. Best of luck and keep her rubber side down!
