I'd love to see them in more locations. I keep groceries in the truck so my truckstop eating is kept to a minimum. It's not too hard to do when most pilots and J's have the typical fast food and obligatory Subway. I'm not a fan of Dennys either. I wouldn't mind seeing a few more of them swapped out for a Golden Corral like the J in Ruther Glen, Va.

Golden Corral... When you want to be so full you hate yourself.

I don't mind saying, you probably wouldnt want to light a match in here later on. Their plumbing inside may be put to the test to. That burrito was worth it though.

@tucker there's a truck coming up empty in a few weeks. I could use some referral money!

congrats on the new job, I doubt they give you the bonus to find your replacement, Magnum seems to be a great starter company, but at least you know when it's time to move on

I've been OTR for 10 years and I'm getting real old, so the next job will have to be home weekly, it's getting tougher to keep the blood pressure and the weight down, and all the short loads here at Crete suck, dealing with both a receiver and a shipper almost every day sucks, but when the rare long loads appear, yeah, makes me happy. :)
I believe being an OTR driver away from home for weeks at a time takes a certain breed of person, and I crave the long loads just like a pit bull craves mauling a child. It's in our blood.
    BUT
You'd absolutely hate me posting about me having to work at Magnum, I love complaining, I'd make @supersnackbar seem like a happy employee who loves his job, even though complaining about a job and absolutely hating it, doesn't mean there's a need to look for a different job, I'll complain about my next job too.

Before I go on, it looks like Crete and Shaffer is recruiting in Kenya, Haiti and Zimbabway, I rarely ever talk to a fellow driver as I hate ,um, foreign accents, yeah! and the totally private shower rooms sometimes looks like an animal was in there last. plus we have toilet paper thieves here.,
    .
But Magnum is still a starter company, most of it's drivers have less then 5 years experience, so they are still green and have the " I'll sit at the dock for days, just pay me a little detention, and I'll unload during my 10 hour break and relog it to look legal, until you get into a wreck, a terrible lawyer will still find a video of you standing in line for the lumper, while your logs show you in the sleeper, have fun in jail, and working at Carolina Cargo afterwards,
Pay and Hometime should be the top two things at a driving job, not dealing with dispatch, that should be real low,
Fargo is a mud pit with no drivers lounge, and you get to shower out in the open for everyone to watch, ick!!! Gravel is cheap, spread away. Heck, have a contest and see who can track the most mud into where the office people hang out, the loser has to buy. If I'm ever in Fargo, I'll set that one up,
And most of you complain just as much as ssb, he just does it with a biting, memorable flair, and I miss his posts.
    .ps
hope I get up to Wisconsin this weekend so I can dance with an Indian girl and make it rain for someone's vacation
edit, And if you don't want to read it, click the link, and hear "blah, blah, blah" I should have put this up at the top

Once the masses see your truck you'll have enough recruiting bonus money to make up for your regular paychecks, (LOL)

Another thing I don't understand is you and ssb both say Magnum is a starter co. and act like grass is greener elsewhere.

Ive looked at other companies. Most don't pay 50 cpm.

I came in with experience and went straight into a new truck. They take care of their equipment. I'm not micro-managed. I drive lots of miles. 11 - 15k is easily attainable in a month. If I have an issue I address it and get listened to.

I understand Ups, Ashley, or Walmart pay much better, but how hard are they to get on at?

    Where is the grass greener?
