Thanks Wedge. I don't know if I have such a switch; if I did and turned it off and connected the cables and then turned on the switch wouldn't you think that the sound that I hear ( like a motor turning) would start again?

What state are your batteries in? If they're almost dead, I think I've seen this happen. Otherwise

I just recharged each battery since I foolishly had left on an interior light for several days. According to the charger meter they were all fully charged. They are about 1 year old.

Most likely. But at least you will be able to engage and disengage battery power with a switch. Maybe you can have someone help you locate this motor sound you are hearing.

One thing is for certain, your arcing is being caused by a circuit closing every time you attach that cable. You need to find out where that sound is coming from.

    One more thing.

Go into your truck and make sure everything is off, including the bunk heater. Anything that can run without the key on or in the acc position.

I'm curious to know what is causing that problem.

Let me know. Good luck. :yes2557::yes2557:

You have current draw, likely caused by a fridge, fan, radio or any number of things, either shut them off or as Wedge stated "If your tractor is equipped with a load disconnect switch, try shutting that down before connecting your cables."

    Wedge Thanks this.

It's called a Cole-Hersey switch and it is most often located between the driver seat and door, on the floor.

    Wedge Thanks this.
