It's often been said that truckers can't even agree on the time of day, let alone agree on enough issues to organize a strike. Further, attempting to get a meaningful strike organized in the US trucking industry would most likely be futile anyway, IMHO, as company drivers trying to join in any strike would find themselves out of work and possibly blackballed from working for another company (DAC report). O/O's alone would be expected to strike and bear the financial loss of such an action -- many of whom are already hearing the wolf at the door. To expect them to strike on behalf of the entire industry is unfair.
Here is a modest proposal: Every day at high noon local time, no matter where you are (safety concerns taken into account), blow your airhorn for ten seconds. This, again IMHO, will draw attention. It will also demonstrate whether or not truckers can be organized even at this miniscule level of cooperation. It will cost nothing for every trucker on the road to participate in this. Nobody will be out of work. No boycotts, no strikes. In very little time, the media will want to talk with truckers to find out why they're making so much noise every day. Then the industry will have a chance to air the grievances.
