I have had my CDLs for about a month now. Due to some other commitments and scheduling school I had to take some time out to help get my mother-in-laws house more accessible for her. I am trying to decide on going with McElroy pulling a flat bed or pulling a dry van with Roehl. I kind of like the idea of a little extra exercise and the weekend home time with McElroy. On the other hand the Roehl terminal in Atlanta has openings for a 14/7. I have a small part time business I could still operated being home one out of three weeks. I was informed by the recruiter for Roehl that once you start you rotation then you know exactly what weeks you will be home. I know its part time pay but I have the ability to make up the difference in my other business. Also being home on the weekends (34 / 48 hours) with McElroy isnt a bad situation either. I would probably get rid of the small business and just enjoy me time at home. Anyone doing the 14/7 let me know how it is going. Roehl also said that if you are doing the 14/7 and want to change to the 11/14 w/ 3 days off it is no problem.

Don't wait too much longer to make your decision. These companies will make you take a refresher course if it has been longer than a month or so since you graduated.

Why not Roehl And Flatbed And 14/7? It would seem home-time with Roehl would be about the same as with McElroy. What, does Roehl not have a regional flatbed fleet for Georgia? I assumed they did. It could be a matter of you will come in as a student needing trainer time, so you're limited to initial fleet choices ... once that's done, you'll probably have more fleet options with Roehl. And if you decide you don't like flatbedding, you can move to van.

They let you get more than one CDL?
