I have been in truck driving school now for 3 weeks and have 1 more to go, next week is test week, to see if we can get our licenses. I'm still having some trouble with remembering to double clutch when shifting { part of the test}, but my instructer is right there reminding me every second. I dont think I am doing too bad though, I managed to take us down the freeway yesterday without killing anybody, just a slight problem with grinding some gears, good thing its paid for. I just wanted to say to all you instructers out there to be patient with us rookies, we are gonna make mistakes, but pointing them out so quickly in traffic only makes us nervous, which leads to more mistakes, so just relax, if we're not dragging a volkswagon under the truck, then we are doin just fine.:biggrin_25524:

Take a deep breath and relax! Dont forget to exhale! Everything will come together. If you're not behind the wheel still try to practice..run the double clutchin in your head..Just make it thru your test and you wont have to double clutch again!

well i hate to have to bust your bubble, but US instructors are DOING OUR JOBS, when we criticize what you are doing wrong. yes, you do get nervous, this WE KNOW..........i'll make you nervous enough that come test day, you can actually blow off the DMV test guy.....!!!!!

i personally put you through your paces. i'd RATHER you screw up and MAKE mistakes with ME, rather than the DMV guy, because with me, all you get is an "arse-chewing"..........then we move on.......

with the DMV guy, you mess up............you're GOING HOME..........WITH OUT your CDL...........!!!!!!

it all comes down to this (seriously), if we didn't hound you for doing things wrong, how would you learn..........??

"oh excuse me fine young man, but you seemed to have ran over that curb, blown out a tire, and ran over that baby carriage. Would you please be so kind as to not do that again........??? thank you".........

ya think i'm gonna talk like that..........be "politically correct".........??

BULL PUCKY...........ya got an arse-chewing coming.......??

    yer gonna git it..........~!!!!~~~

you RELAX..............we're just DOING OUR JOBS...............(seriously).........it ain't easy teaching/training wannabe's/newbies, and NOT every body out there can do it either...........only a "chosen few of us can"...........and we do it very well too..............you'll almost never forget us...............

    RESPECT and TheHealthyDriver Thank this.

"If we're not dragging a VW under our truck, we're doing just fine". Really now? I understand your enthusiasm getting into the trucking business, but, don't think you are some sort of seasoned driver with 3 weeks of school under your belt. As a former instructor I only yelled one time at a student, a student (about 50) that thought he didn't need to check his right mirror when making right turns. I yelled at him when he clipped a stop sign. I guess I scared him, because he went home and never came back. Get a couple years under your belt before you think you are "Joe truck driver".

Your right, I will will not forget my road trainer. WATCH YOUR TANDEMS, WATCH YOUR TANDEMS,WATCH YOUR TANDEMS.
When I took my road test, I watched my tandems, and passed the test. He yelled a lot too, but he was a good teacher.

Something to try with double clutching is to practice on the toilet with your plunger, I know haha laugh all you want.one of my instructors told us to try it. I never had any problems with clutching but some of the guys that did said it helps. Just think about it and concentrate on what your doing and itll all come together. No need to trish your shifts either, don't take your sweet@$$ time but you also don't need to rush. 1-2-3 go

I am not and never have been a trainer. I just don't have the patience to train people.

BUT, if Rerun had not already said it, I would have posted something quite similar. Don't get your panties in a wad when the trainer is duh TRAINING YOU!

Something to keep in mind when dealing with a trainer. This guy has had to train a LOT of people. Probably. Which means he has dealt with some folks who may not be the sharpest tack on the bulletin board. Maybe even with some whose hearing is not 100%.

So what to YOU seems like yelling, may well be just his "normal teaching mode." For heaven sake, don't take it personally.
