Hey guys! Had a quick question. My dad is a truck driver (not me). And a lot of his friends are truck drivers as well. Well He was telling me that a friend of his works at home now. Stopped driving trucks and is making a living at home finding loads for others and now has few trucks under his name and is slowly starting to expand his company.

I don't remember much of the conversation because it was a month or two back. But from what I understand, the finds loads for companies and sells them and makes a profit? I'll try talking to my dad again when I get a chance. But he was saying you need some kind of license, Company name (which we already have) and you go online and you find loads and you see which one you can make profit from and sell it to companies.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? Or would you guys need more information. I'll ask my dad again. But If anyone does know what I'm talking about can someone please answer these questions:

    1) Is this worth it? Can you make money?
    2) How can one learn about this business?
    3) What kind of license would I need?
    4) Just if someone can explain what this is all about and how I can learn to do this at home?

you need a broker license and yeah, you can make money at home doing this kind of work.

Do a search here on "becoming a broker" and you will find all kinds of information.

He is brokering loads. There are classes you take for the license, then you put up a 10,000 dollar bond and start matching loads to trucks. The honest brokers (if you can find one) take a 10 - 20% commission, most take more including some of the FSC. Be honest and fair and you can do well.

there are tons of scammers on the web, some of whom I even know on a 1st-name basis and jokingly call the activity 419's after one nations regulations on web-scams - brokering can be worth it but use what I call the trampoline business model = dont jump too far or you'll bust-butt bigtime
