I think you guys are gullible doing one at a company that has so many company drivers, with management whose compensation is heavily bonus driven.

All the big money freight goes to the company, you are truly kidding yourself if you think otherwise.
There may be some good loads for IC's, but they probably are not easy, or there is no company truck to cover them.

Would any of you post your actual fixed cost overhead for us?
    I'll say it's rather large.

I posted an actual check on a SNI thrread, after all my blue sky, and the koolaid drinkers said " Yea but you have truck payment, etc., guess "blue sky" is to old school lol.
Anyway was shouted down in disbelief.

I was making $1800 average a week, with a 34 at the house every weekend, after truck payment & all overhead before taxes, with my micro carrier. No QC.10 minutes spent at terminal a week. Ungoverned truck.

I've seen first hand your alleged fuel discount, it's half what it should be.

All you have to do is read these forums, have some experience, read between the lines to know it's an albatross.

I feel for you guys that blundered into it.

Dude this has nothing to do with leasing.

Ohio is not the north. It's the mid west. If you watched the video he was talking about PA freight. And no, I am not impressed with 2.10 to Louisiana.

You should really check your research again. I know for a fact that the failure rate where I'm leasing my truck from, oh by the way my name is on the title with the leasing company as a lien holder, is 10-12%. I'm really good friends with the lady that does all the numbers at that leasing company. I've seen the numbers as she runs the reports every week.

Now I'll give you that not all lease purchase or lease programs are the same. You do have the scams out there that spend a lot money advertising how good they are.

No I didn't watch the video.

You said north, not northeast. Even out of PA I usually get $2+/mile going south to VA, GA, WV, TN, or ONE of the Carolinas. I don't go to Florida at all. That's a state that's too cheep to get out of no matter how much I got going in.

Granted I am pulling reefer and not dry van or flatbed.

Here I are at this very moment, same carrier, do all his local deliveries, on the clock, $18.00, being unloaded, company driver, home every night, take home $900 week, no tax liability, no equipment risk. No koolaid.
When my Dad passes, I'll go back to doing the regional.

I ran into a bulk IC up near Syracuse NY last week. From the rates he was telling me, they aren't all that much better than van, but much longer runs...didn't sound like he had to patch together multiple 150-200 mile loads like we do to make decent money

This dude is hilarious. If you don't laugh watching his videos you have no sense of humor. Watch out JarHead! At least this guy is likeable.

(Bulk Choice here. Coming from company Bulk and Intermodal.)

That's what I'm seeing. It's not a whole lot different rate wise but I'm trying to stick to longer runs that pay at least $1.40 after fuel. I find that it's not too hard to take a 3 day run for $2000 then do a couple of local runs for $500-$900 where ever I end up until another good long run comes up.

I've only been at it for two weeks so I was more focused on getting a couple of paychecks in before I go home for xmas. I'll finish this last load in Dallas tomorrow. It paid $1500 for 900 miles Cincinnati>Dallas. Last one was $1100 for 600 miles. One before was $2200 for 1600 miles.

Only thing is, the really good loads either aren't open to me until I get certified with the two biggest customers or they require unusual unloads. Also, there really isn't much good paying freight between Snow and Not Snow. And almost nothing ever going to Atlanta so I can go home. Good bit going out, though. I've been leaving my PV in Houston and driving home once a month.

Choice just started for all Bulk ICs mid November so the jury is still out. I haven't really worked at making a full week yet since we have no truck payment until mid January. Just putting back some cash to start and relearning the Bulk specific stuff.

Something to keep in mind, though. These bulk spec trucks don't get near the fuel milage a Van truck does. Always at max weight and two less gears in the Automatics. I do good to get 6.3mpg in and out of NJ on I-81/I-73 and 7.2mpg on flat ground in the midwest. And I got a truck with full fairings. Most don't. I'm really gonna' hate it when I have to cross actual mountains.
