I think it depends on how YOU run your business. If you play in every truckstop there is and don't get good fuel mileage, than you will be broke.

I took on a Lease with CRE. I Stupidly signed a 3 yr lease I had a brand new truck with 21 miles on it when I signed the lease. then after 2 mos found out I wasn't making any money( I was running as hard as I possibly could) when I figured out that I wasn't making anything I decided to leave them. They told me all I had to do was bring the Truck back to Salt Lake City and everthing would be fine. A month later they sent me a bill for $2,000 I did not have the money to pay it so now it about $2,500 and going up about $75 a week because of Intrest. I guess chalk it up to being a Newbie and swallowing the tales of the CRE Stooges

Well I am new to this site and I really have enjoyed what I have seen so far. I am here because I am trying to find a good trucking outfit and I have been considering England...Well until today. After reading the posts, I am concerned. I do not want to be a L/O or O/O I want to drive for the company, I have no family, Kids, Etc. But I do have alot of obligations and bills. So is this a great company to work for as a driver, Is it great pay, How long on the road until you do get to come home...

I have one bill, my cell phone bill. I've calculated what I normally spend per week on food for myself and it's around 60 bucks, I normally eat once or twice a day I guess that's why I only weigh 105lbs. But I live at home, not married but have a girlfriend (thank goodness she don't suck me dry on money). You think I could make it on a CRE lease if I played it there way, not turn down loads, stay out 2 or 3 weeks at a time?
-
I did that thinking the same thing as you, I was single, no rent/house payment, only bill was cell phone, and I couldn't make any money. They ran the dog crap out of me when i was a company driver, but once I signed that lease i would sit, and sit some more. They told me that Lease Operators have a priorty for loads over a company truck, but I can't remember how many times I was empty before some company truck and watched him pull out. I would never, ever do it again! I take it you are a company driver for CRE, if so next time you are in the yard talk to some of the lease drivers, better yet see how many guys turn their trucks in EVERY DAY to them.
I was, and still am a very good driver, hardly ever had a problem with dispatch, never turned down a load, never late and I couldn't make money. i don't remeber how many times I saw negative paychecks! -
no not a CRE driver I was just curious though, I do appreciate your responce. I'm gonna take your advice and stay clear of CRE, thanks again.

No problem, I think CRE is probally one of the worst out there.... In my opinon don't lease, buy that way if your carrier isn't working out you can go somewhere else.

My hubby is driving for CRE now and you make what money?:smt119 We're on their lease program, run between 3500 to 4000 miles per week, and make $0.00 paycheck for I don't know how long now. There's no way to make money. The lease program at England just flat out sucks and there's no other way to put it. The on trucking company that I know for a fact that has an extremely nice lease to purchase program is JCT. We talked to quite a few of their drivers and two of them one in particular owns 2 of JCT's trucks and leases them out while he's on his fourth. He's been driving for JCT for 15 yrs. The lease to purchase isn't a bad thing what so ever. It's what company you're leasing from. CRE very very bad, JCT exceptional. It wouldn't bother me in the least that after we left England, they fell off the face of the earth.
