After two and a half years I have finally had it with Swift... I found a company that I will be moving two within the next few weeks if I don't run local around my home. I am going to take two weeks to look for a local job but have been hired to start at another company. Well at least pre-approved...
I'm not going to go into detail but the last year at Swift has been bad for me and I can't afford to work here any longer. The planners here are just ridiculous and as hard as I tried to switch terminals and they kept holding me hostage. Well not anymore as I have decided on an Instant Pay Raise!!!
One good thing is someone in Houston is going to get a clean well maintained truck that's for sure. As for me I'm trading colors getting a nice red truck !![]()
Making my move to a better company

A friend of mine drives (and trains) for Swift. Several mos ago he had reached his breaking point too. His problem was related to home time. They would keep him out for weeks even though he would request time off in advance. Anyways, he was going to work where I do, was pre-hired, etc. However, once the operating center manager up in the Portland area (?) caught wind of his quitting, he called my buddy, gave him a pay raise, a new truck and a promise to get him home every two weeks as requested. He decided to stay and for the last six mos. everything seems to be going as promised.

Good for you good luck hope it works out for ya, Im doing the same in 6months I make good money just sick of dumb rules one after another and I want to run local and spend time with my family more.
swift give no look at your Hometime they don't care and trysts when u gotta just refuse every load until u get one home or that direction st least and call your DM and make them find u 1 home that's how I always got home on time never late once in a yr and halfscottied67 and jaiart Thank this. -
good for you

I can understand sometimes companies cant get you home the day you requested, but when it happens month after month,in convinced its done delibrately. No reason why companies cant find a reload heading home while under a load rather then wait till you send in an mt call before looking.

Oh ya it's done deliberately to keep there truck moving I got good preplans to CA from GA when I was due home time.
i had a Preplan from SC to KC city with 2 extra days on it called DM to get it tcalled I took load and be calls back says planner won't do tcall and I live in STL no reason they couldn't set tcall for E STL for me so I told DM to remove load so 15min later DM called and got me a load to E STL
you would think be easy for a OTR drier to get home inSTL but no it was always a hassel that's why always started finding a load days in advance letting DM know and sent dispatch next load hom, hell even running OTR I was lucky to see the house once a month and usually a shipper or receiver screwed that up for me. Taking hours to ld or u ld pretty sad Walmart stores unld faster than most f these fools with fork lifts evenscottied67, mje, pattyj and 1 other person Thank this. -
I hear you. They have known for two weeks about my home time, and I live in Columbus. Due home Monday, here it is Saturday, and no pplan, and they say no fr8 here in the Dallas area. They were reminded on Thursday when accepted this load, and was told that there should not be a problem getting home. Then my DM forgot about me yesterday.
