Can you imagine treating ANYONE this way? I believe prisoners of war get better treatment! I'm sure the so called trainers' family would be so proud!! This bullying type of trainer would be BEGGING for another student, probably would find another career if he were with me!! I don't tolerate ANY type of bullying!!! I just wonder how the trainer would like it someone treated his daughter or son this way?
    Whats happened to decent humanity?

Trainees are getting paid salary which is $325.00 a week or so and with every few weeks the pay goes up but not by much. What students make is an embarrassing wage and should be against the law.Trucking companies are making a huge profit off trainees alone. What trainees make don't go far while over the road. What other payments would you think there are for trainer? He doesn't have any other payments unless hes an owner operator and trainee broke something. But otherwise a trainer is a company driver training someone so trainee can get his or her own trk and hope be a safe driver but more times then not its just the opposite. If a trainer doesn't want to be part of a team then he or she has no business training.

Yes I can imagine this behavior unfortunately and the sad thjing is they get away with it because companies could care less. They don't have time to care about the drivers.Only thing they care about is making money off the drivers/students and make sure the drivers aren't a part of breing happy

Poster will answer when he comes on I reckon. But what I think he's saying is the trainer stops at safeway so why can't I stop at the store of my choice is what it sounds like.Nothing wrong with Safeway I use to shop there a lot but now here its been replaced with Fareway which is another nice store.

I understand and agree that what they pay OTR trainees is criminal. That, and stories about how trainees are treated. like this one is one of the reasons I will not go OTR once I graduate. If I have to go OTR, then I will just return to my old job and a nice and shiny CDL will go to waste, along with about $4000 of WIA-paid schooling. But this isn't about me.

What I'm trying to figure out is how much more profitable it is to be a trainer than just a driver. I realize that the trainer is getting paid for the miles that the trainee logs, but is there other payments or bonuses associated with taking on a trainee?

Reason I am asking is that I too think that the trainer should be paying, or at least helping the OP out with meals, since the trainer is obviously profiting by this arrangement. Hell, it's probably in the trainers best economic interest to keep the trainee happy and healthy, and if he doesn't realize or care about that then he's not cut out to be a trainer or an O/O.

In other words, a small investment, like groceries for your trainee, could pay off in increased miles and less downtime.

I am betting that, on average, being a trainer more than doubles your pay, and probably triples it. A trainer would be a fool to jeopardize that by abusing a trainee to the point that they get sick, get hurt, or just plain walk away from the job.

Not all trainers are like this one. There are many trainers that do believe in helping the student out as much as possible and being a true professional. What got me thru training is I requested a trainer with yrs exp and believes in safety. The trainer I had was excellent,he helped with meals, very patient, and made my training exp comfortable.Do not except a newbie for a trainer. What I mean by that is someone with less then a yrs exp.

Looking back at some of the former posts, he went with May Trucking. If he is having that much trouble with the trainer, i'd be on the phone with the home office person in charge of training.

I would think that carriers would be smart enough to have very experienced drivers as their trainers. Of course, some of the stupid things I've seen companies do and get away with astounds me. Would a company really send out a driver with only a year or two of experience as a trainer?

Seems to me someone like that still needs a little guidance themselves. That's getting off topic though, so no need to answer.
