Another issue with linehaul that bears mentioning is always pulling different trailers all the time. Any driver that is worth his salt, and isn't what I like to call a "drone", will go absolutely nuts having to go behind the idiots that don't write up equipment issues getting their defects repaired.
Man i want a LTL job.

Big Don Thanks this.

Yeah, you get that just about everywhere, unless you stay hooked to the same trailer all the time. And unless you're an O/O I would think staying hooked to the same trailer all the time would cost you money.

Longest I've ever kept a trailer otr was a week

Small companies and flatbed would be the only way I can think of to keep hooked to the same trailer.

Beer distributor or Dairymen's here in Cleveland. Dairymen's is one of those companies that assigns certain pieces of equipment to certain routes. Like have people who are in a 30 foot trailer all the time then they have guys who are in bigger trailers and trucks and then they have guys who one day might be in a straight truck and then the next day are in a tractor trailer it's true. They have a mixed fleet and certain trucks do certain stops.

That sounds like Saia (they pay overtime after 45 hours).

What's good for one guy in one county at one company might be completely the opposite for someone else in a separate County at the same company. Lots of research must be done to figure out what is going on in your immediate vicinity. Just because a guy in my area is doing great at a specific company near me doesn't mean the same would be true near you at that same company.
The opposite could also be true. Somebody working for a company in your neighborhood could be doing great and someone working for that same company in my neighborhood might barely be able to scrape together a living let alone keep all their teeth. Any statistical data you use to make a decision should be taken directly from someone who works for a company in your city and you should probably disregard statistical data from people that work for that same company at other locations. -
Mike2633 Thanks this.
