I'm sure that the man and his family/caretakers will be contacted by one of those scheister lawyers who will file a multi-million dollar suit against this company, putting them out of business.![]()

thats a miracle he wasn't killed. Gee,must have been a good cop, could have issued a no helmet ticket to that wheelchair driver at 50mph. he should play the lottery right away with that kind of luck, both of them would probably win.

The guy has muscular dystrophy, and it happened just like most of you guessed, man in wheelchair was crossing crosswalk, light changed, trucker didn't see the chair that close. Then the poor guys wheelchair handles got wedged into the grille and off the poor guy went. Luckily he had a seatbelt fastened, and the only apparent damage to his chair was most of the rubber was gone from his tires!
They are BOTH very fortunate that it had a good outcome. -

Failure to wait for a clear crossing, or something along those lines, just like if you pulled out as soon as the light went green, not paying attention if the vehicles in the other direction had cleared the intersection or not. Don't confuse this with hitting someone who's running the red, that's a different matter.
Odds are, since everyone is OK, as long as the trucker's paperwork (LOGBOOK) is in order, then he probably won't be charged with anything. I heard the guy in an interview this morning, and he sounded very relaxed and even joked that he went on a trip!
On an amusingly similar note, a Toronto man was charged with OUI, and barred from operating ANY motorized vehicle. This stemmed from him being arrested a year ago (i think) while driving his mom's power wheelchair to and from the bar! -
I'm curious to see if the guys family tries to take legal action. If I'm not mistaken the driver didn't get ticketed. Still, I wonder how many lawyers have tried contacting the family. Ambulance chasers will be all over it I'm sure.
