Man walking near loading dock hit, killed by truck

Yesterday driving through Indy,Im on post rd,mainly a mix of retail shops and homes.
I'm in the right lane,at a red light,as I proceed through the intersection, a kid about 10 darts out from behind a large set of hedges,and makes a 90 degree turn down the sidewalk.
The sidewalk was maybe 2 feet from the traffic lanes.
Both me and my passenger couldn't believe parents would allow children to play on such a busy road.

 

I thought I was going to take the kid out,nothing I could do..split second.

 

Almost makes me consider getting off the road...and it was only a close call...couldn't imagine taking a life.
