You must have crap trucks if they work on them 68 hours a week!!!!
On the other hand, my last truck could have used about 30 hours/week of work but I was lucky if it even got an oil change!

They say the average person sleeps 7 to 8 hours a day for normall sleeping time. If that is true why cant I drive the remaining time if I wish to do so? I know, I know DOT said so.
Would I drive 16 hours a without a break? No. However i'm sure some would. HOS and DOT sucks JMHOHalf a Load Thanks this. -
If you guys thinks this is about safety your nuts. It's all about $$$$$$$$$$$$$

I used to do that. Drive 14 hours, couple for food and shower and the rest to sleep. But in the end, I just got burnt out. What good is it to make big bucks if you don't have the time to enjoy it? My last job, I go so sick of the owners B.S., that I just logged 100% legal. Driving time, sitting in traffic, waiting to load, loading and tarping. All logged on duty. I was lucky to clear 2,000 miles a week, but, I was WAY more relaxed and better rested. My dispatcher was going nuts, but tough, if he wants to run illegal, he can drive the truck. And the owner couldn't say anything because he insisted that I run legal....I know that he really meant 'pass in a legal looking log, but run your butt off', but F him, if he's going to bark at me about logs, he'll get exactly what he asked for.
Now, I won't run for anyone who wants me to log one second illegal. If my dispatcher calls me when I'm on my 10 hour break, (if I had one), I'll log it on duty and start my 10 hour clock over. Life's too short to spend it half asleep behind the wheel being miserable or asleep in the bunk. I want more than that from life.
Now I'm collecting unemployment, about a fourth of what I was making, and I am getting by and much happier. I hope I never have to go back to work. I am planning to go to school and learn something new and more enjoyable than fighting with dispatchers, cops, shippers and receivers!
With all the regulations now, it doesn't pay to run hard and break the rules. Cost of fuel, tickets, CSA2010, and so on. It's better to just obey the law and take what you get. If it ain't enough, it's time to change jobs.
