Manual only company

    Anyone smart enough whos gonna sit next to you while test will figure out right away if you can shift or willing to improve your grinding ( if any ) ...dont worry - you will be fine !

    I’ll be honest with you. If the only time you’ve driven a manual is 10 years ago during CDL class, you know it’s not going to go well.

    I was in a similar situation, but about 3 1/2 years in. The company I work for now, I’m part time. I get a different truck each time I go out. Usually. Anyhow, they’re 3/4 autos and 1/4 manual. Well it finally came up one time that I was getting the manual. Only I didn’t have to take a test drive because I’ve already been with the company. I basically re-taught myself while on the job. Lol

    I won’t say it went perfect, but I got by. Now I can drive both with ease.

    Be upfront with the test drive guy. Hopefully he will be ok with letting you practice for a few laps around the yard or whatever. Always wait till you are sure nobodies coming for 100 miles before turning, especially if you might miss a shift. Be prepared to go with a trainer for a few days or a week. If thats an option at the new company. Good luck. Let us know how you do.
