Hi, im a CDL A flatbed driver now. Im Trying to lease onto the semi co I work for with a 04 dodge 3500 as a hotshot. This is new to them but my boss noticed the manufacturer put a GCWR of 24,000 on the truck itself. Is this a number the dot cares about or just the axle rating? I didn't even get a trailer yet so I don't know what those number are but from I have been lead to understand is that the dot only cares about the combined axle ratting of the two.
If this is true, is there a section of the fmcsa that I could find this for certain? Thanks so much!
