    Well because Im a realist.

First, fuel is expensive...I've heard over 1000 trucks were on the road...so lets use that as a round number. If trucking companies had to just put in ONLY 100 gallons to get a truck home to a drivers home location (which is NOT where the companies wanted the trucks to go), that would be 100,000 gallons of fuel or probably around 300k in 'donations' the truck stops would have to give.
Keep in mind Flying J's being bought out by Pilot and etc.

As far as toys for tots. it wasnt aimed at the truckers. It was aimed at everyone who bought something at the stop. Man...go to Friggen Taco Bell and notice the same thing there. My local TB has their windows covered from top to bottom with 1 buck cards.

As far as the finance companies paying for fuel...thats the same situation, only worse because they have less money probably than the trucking companies do; AND that is money that they will NOT earn back and will take a while to recoup from.

Unions are PRO union, NOT PRO-non-union. No offense to them, but its not anywhere in their best interest to help out any non-union worker...and the spit would hit the fan if they did.

As far as "I was gonna join OOIDA but because they didn't do what I think they should have done, because in my mind im right" comment...please. Like your elected officials really care, for one. And for two...they had that Universal Healthcare poo to worry about getting passed on Christmas day. How many drivers contacted their elected officials to see if they could get help from THEM in getting home? At least OOIDA did something, which was broadcast out to their membership and over the radio (how many listeners?) about the situation. Any real help from the government takes time, you know that.

    They who?

Anybody who has been driving a truck for longer than 3 minutes knows that the trucking community is a closer bunch than other occupations. For many out on the road, their fellow driver is a unknown friend, someone they are willing to help out...etc. There are countless stories about drivers helping other drivers out there. This belief goes from the drivers and mechanics all the way up the lines to the top of the companies. Schneider also sent out a similar message, asking to keep OOR miles down and to work with a DBL to fill out a passenger form.

I didn't think of this but technically I think you are right. I don't think you can be driving (in this case I mean with the trailer) without a company bill of lading and something that says where you are going. I could be wrong here.

Bragging about making 200k is fine, but you need to be upfront. Lol...you lease your truck out and make 200k gross. Take out all your expenses and you make a whole heck of a lot less...especially if you haul Wal Mart loads.

The smart drivers left when they learned their paychecks were bouncing.

You see it all the time where drivers will just eat it and eat it -sometimes going massively into debt or bankruptcy. At some time you need to stand up for yourself because no one else will stand up for you.

You seem to be singing to the choir or however it goes. I am anti obamma, anti facism / socialism, and have been around long enough to know how trucking is. And then some.
i appreciate it all regardless as you had no idea.
I just feel that the thread went bad w/the OP's inability to express himself in the manner in which all of us could interpret it as he meant it originally. He apparently meant well but was misconstrued and all hell broke loose.
    Look at the thread now.

Take heed to this: If we see anymore posts like some of the ones I have read here tonight people will be receiving infractions or banned. Name calling and insults are NOT going to fly on this site. If you want to call each other names and insult each other I suggest you find some other place to do that at.
