I think that's my cue to get off the road. I'll stick to the East Coast. The Attorneys, Brokers & "people more important than me" are much better at sniffing out slick spots and ditches. So I'm more than happy to let them find them for me. I know I've gotten into situations where I'm like "you need to shut down NOW!" and I won't do things I might have tried 10 years ago now. But sometimes, you still have 20 miles to the next off ramp, 30 to the one that actually has a place to park off it, and you tell yourself, "next time I'll play it short and stop 50 miles ago, but I just need to make the next 10 miles HAPPEN." Here's what I don't get, at one point in the video, it looks like the cops/first responders were coming from the other side and crossing the median on foot, even while more impacts can be heard. Why didn't they drive ahead to a quarter mile from the last truck and toss some road flares.
Horrifying new video shows massive I-80 pileup as it happens More footage of the accident as it happened.
The video you linked to shows the guy that ended up in this heap. He was moving along like there was no tomorrow at the 1:15 mark. Those guys were going WAY too fast for the conditions.
When the dust settles some of these so-called drivers might be looking for new jobs. Some of them are definitely going to get fined and more than likely sued!
