One last post on this topic from me. I stand by choice and appreciate being in a nation where it isn't compulsory. My reasons for standing are deeply held personal beliefs and experiences.
On the kneeling during the anthem, folks are failing to understand the other person's point of view.
If you can't understand why some find it disrespectful, you aren't fully understanding the unique connection between the flag and the military. I've had friends and one cousin come home with the flag draped over their coffin. I've stood at many funerals and witnessed that flag handed to the grieving family member on behalf of a grateful nation. That allows me to understand that unique connection and why it is seen as disrespectful, np matter how much someone claims it isn't.
If you believe folks are intentionally being disrespectful to dead military members and their families, you don't realize that most don't have those experiences. It is simply a piece of cloth without the same intimant connection. The protesters, for the most part, aren't being malicious.
I shared a Snopes article for my own friends who are also divided. It was written long before Kap sat the first time. The article clearly illustrates the unique connection between the flag and the military, although that isn't the articles primary subject. Should you feel compelled, Google, " what is in the ball on top of the flag pole on military bases." There is a bit of military lore and the article's focus is on that. It's an I interesting and short read.

When I spot racist tendencies, I call them out. No need to poo$y walk.
That said... Are there good cops? OF COURSE THERE IS. I'm not positing that they dont exist. The problem is that the "good cops" dont speak out when a bad cop is acting out. Remember the white nurse? The bully cop over-extended his authority and what did the other "good" cop do? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
That is guilty by association, and unless the "good cops" speak out, then knowing a few cops who are just normal people like "You & Me" means nothing.

I'm not here to trade insults with anyone, but I'll be duh!-mned if I let the "casual racists" just slither along spewing occasional venom under the guise of "patriotism".Mortarmaggot Thanks this. -
As far as the mods go, I think we've kept it pretty civil so far. I certainly try to when we discuss issues that could be considered political in nature outside of that designated forum. Especially since I have no desire to visit that dumpster fire of a section. Obviously the mods can moderate as they see fit as this is their site, not ours, but part of the problem is everyone's definition of political is different. Most people probably define it as "stuff that doesn't affect me, its just fun to argue about." I think its good we're having these conversations though, as its something we're discussing and going through on a national level.

n and only then will I take then seriously -
@Oldfart trucker ...Ok. go ahead, deflect & pivot all you want. it's the classic F(au)X News strategy. Oh, and btw, they have marched in Chicago against Black-on-Black violence (but you would never know, since F(au)X News wont show it)
@Mr. Jackhole...I would, but then why should I? its right in front of you, if you remove your blinders.
