Finally got to talk to a friend on one of my Sherman tuned cobra 29 classics barefoot. I had just warned Southbounders about a broken down wrecker that was partially blocking the SB lanes when someone called using my actual name not cb handle, I answered he gave me his handle. Since I didn't recognize his voice or cb handle I had to ask for identity . Turned out to be a friend who I had never talked to on the cb. We had talked on 2 meter FM, amateur frequencies on SSB ( we are both Hams) and in person. I thought he had seen me (truck) as we passed on the highway. As it turned out he had not. He recognized my voice when I was giving the traffic report. We talked to about 6 miles seperation until he arrived home with no issues on either of us hearing the other. Me in the work truck he in one of his 4 wheelers. terrain was mixed rolling forest/ fields. Since my goal is a clean efficient signal I was pleased that he picked me up by voice recognition, not handle or by visual and that it did not overpower and distort when close and no issues being understood as we increased distance. Being in a Cascadia with a dipole I was happy. People are entitled to their opinions and to choose their tech but I would not hesitate to send a radio to Mark again.

Does Mark have any videos of scopes with the super swing mod. One youtuber was selling a cobra 25 or 29 that had a 1\2 watt dk and 50 watt swing. Also heard skip rolling the other day and a cb shop advertised a cobra 25 comp tuned that would swing 300 watts. I busted out laughing driving down the road. Not wanting to spend money on a whack hack radio just curious.

It moves quite a bit. After 2 Francis Antennas broke at the base I decided to add a PVC sleeve ( about 2 ft.) to the base of the antenna to limit the flex. So far it seems to be working. I've had it on about a month now.
