    Off topic if I may:
Back in the day I ordered a load of tournament shirts for our local bass club..
YUP the border boys cut every god dam package open, now being shirts out of 26 we had 3 arrive without major slices in them.
These were custom shirts that cost us over 275$ each..
Took 3 months for us to get back in line and have the company re make them.. by the time we got shirts un cut to hell by the border patrol, the big tournament was over..
Got to love the border patrol..

    A few thoughts...

First off it is US customs that opens the boxes and they either have a good reason for it or it is completely random. Most clothing shipments seem to get opened but it begs the question why? Maybe the shipper pops up on their radar.

Second off it doesn't take long to fry a final or two. A couple seconds or continues testing at high swr/bad feedline. More likely than not the finals were damaged before.

Third and more importantly ... Anybody read my comments about rf ground and grounding? Just because you have a ground doesn't mean it is the right one. Take the ground right back to the radio itself, not just to the truck.

And got to ask this ... What in the hell is full Elmer?

An Elmer in ham world is a mentor, not the ticket.

I obviously don't have an Elmer, hence the statement. Upon my studying I recalled the error in posting I made here, but, who cares right?

Mark and i discussed that..Make said he ises two types of packing tape..So we ruled that idea out...Based on the radios box and not the main shippi g box,it looks as if its been dropped..The paperwork that was stuck to the box saod customs did NOT open my box...Gonna be a long freakin 30 days to settle then another week n some to recieve..

Thank you RL. I might have been a little flippant in my response. You apparently do care. You've provided much of your time and information. Really, most of you knowledgeable guys here ARE in fact, everyone who posts here's Elmer.

I'm studying for the General same day I pass technical. I want to start talking right away!

You know, as I search for my first real amateur radio, I "hear " your post saying, "strykers are not real amatuer radios", paraphrasing of course.

Thanks again. I hope you continue to assist.
