Finally got home to retrieve my Connex. Now to see how it does.

Unfortunately, I live way out in the sticks. No radio traffic here tonight.

That's a good thing too, no high rf noise. You should be able to hear anything in the distance.

This thing receives friggin awesome now! Haven't done much testing on transmit but I talked to a guy on I-75 today at 7 miles no problem.

It's completely different from the way it was when I sent it in.

    rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

I was in WV on 52 off of 119, and with the truck off and that #### engine noise stopped , I was hearing guys on I64! That was 50 miles away! On 38lsb I was getting a lot of the rest coast and Canada, but they could hear me I guess because I was in the crevasses of the Appalachian mountains. If it wasn't for the engine noise it'd be great. But that's not the radios fault. I wonder if routing the coax through the firewall introduced more noise?

Do you have an RF choke on the power wire?

I've notice the inverter makes a lot of noise, especially when the cooling fans kick on. I disconnect it from the battery daily now, lol. 9/16 wrench or socket, it should be easy to access in the middle front of the batteries. One of these days I'll check the APU and see if it has a good ground. I think it's a noise generator also.

I'm just glad you were smart enough to recognize that the noise you have been hearing is the truck's fault.
