I'm currently driving a Cascadia with a Cobra 29 up in the hole without an external speaker and I can barely understand anyone.
It's a company radio and we slip seat so I don't expect any Miracles out of the factory system

My dash mounted N4, K40, 9913, does ok. Talk and hear 20+miles all day, every day.
Pictures of my setup are here in the forum, I ain't hiding behind no theory or other BS.bored silly Thanks this. -
27 mhz. Adding the cap hat dropped the resonant frequency to 19 mhz. Removing 3 feet of coil brought it back to resonance at 27.185 mhz and making it much more efficient.
bored silly and slim6596 Thank this. -

Look Guys, I'm not disputing that the antenna is 90% of the whole radio deal, it is. The radio don't really matter when it comes to the average radio, hell even my N4 or my VHP ain't worth a darn without a good antenna setup.
35ohms 259, 50 ohms type-N, don't matter on a truck and that is straight from Mark Sherman's face to mine in the camper. 30474 Ground Radio from the tube KWM2A days experience says unless that hat is at least about 18ft, preferably 32ft in diameter.... It ain't doing squat either.
Snake oil salesmen.bored silly Thanks this. -
Mark never did realy explain why but he told me to get a longer shaft for my predator and get rid of the 40" tall ant mount i have now and then remount to something like this..
My current set up is with a 22 inch shaft and not the 6 " shownAttached Files:
