Last week one truck was 3 days-3 trips 1500 miles $4400, another one 4 days roundtrip 2100 miles $5500. The 3rd truck was taking a week off.
I still try sticking to my target revenue. It's exhausting to be honest, I talk to at least 50 brokers a day and it's just mentally draining.
It's just when you consider that having a driver in the truck costs $400 per day, it motivates you to keep grinding for better loads.

That $2500 leftover per week is really not much considering repairs, insurance, salary, licensing and all that stuff. You are left with $1500 profit at best and IMO its really bad money nowadays

Siinman, Midwest Trucker and TallJoe Thank this.

I can't even consider doing $4500 revenue in 5 days. That would be $2000 in just driver's wages

Siinman and Midwest Trucker Thank this.

I know it isn't but when I clear $2500 after fuel and I happen to be close home, I go home, instead of trying to gross more. It depends. Some weeks, I only work 2 days netting $1500. Some others I work 6 days I net close to 4000. What I can't accomplish now will be compensated by what I made earlier or will in the future.
We Europeans don't like to run on debt. We like to buy within means and have some money in the bank. In any case saldo or balance must be positive all the time.

    Beaver9 and RJM1953 Thank this.

    I believe you.
My driver - me - is more flexible with his lower wages at poorer times like these.
I tell him that he should shut the hell up and remember how well he was doing last year.
