    Marquardt sold their flatbed division to Smithway Motor Express in the late 90's. And Smithway was gobbled up by Western Express a few years back after the old man died.

    Marquart did sell to Smithway, but apparently there wasn't a long term non competition agreement in the contract. When smx was bought by western express they let the lease expire on the yankton yard. Marquart is back in operation and is even back in the same yard. It right on US81 on the north side of Yankton.

    Yea flats, steps, and even that drive away equipment like they used to do. Can't really tell they ever out of the biz for awhile, from looking at the yard.
