And you are both new drivers? Or did you have previous experience years ago? Sorry I can't remember from your previous posts.

I'm actually interested in this company for my wife and I. I have experience from a few years ago, and my wife is a total rookie. I actually swore I would never try flatbed again, unless it was guaranteed no tarping. Interesting options at your company. What is the average length of haul for the flatbed loads there? Usually flatbed companies would not need a team.

Dry van is cake. What is the average length of haul for their dry van loads? Do they run reefer too?

One thing you must consider (and you probably have already considered) is that most flatbed load securement and unloading will be done during regular business hours. Keep that in mind when you're choosing who will drive the day shift vs. the night shift. If your wife doesn't like load securement, and doesn't want to drive primarily at night, then best see if you can do 100% dry van.

    Amhof Trucking |

Firstly are you near Davenport Ia/ Moline IL?

I will try to answer the questions I can tonight when we get home. Quick point though, you said in a previous post that people shouldn’t pay for CDL school and your wife needs her CDL. Amhof doesn’t have its own school so she would have to pay a school.

    No, I
No, I'm not near there, but could relocate. In the past we lived in the truck doing OTR. Is this company more setup for getting weekends off all the time?

Yes, this company runs a lot of 5/2 with the trucks at the company yard over the weekend to get serviced. That does not mean anything is set in stone though.

99% of the company drivers are solo drivers, we are that one percent that they hired to run as a team. I don’t know if they would be open to another team, but you can give them a call and talk to Carol. relocating for a job seems drastic to me, but then again, we are extremely happy with Amhof and the way they have brought us on board and I don’t hear that from a lot of new drivers.

We are new to this company, still in training, and they hired us to fill a unique position so I’m probably not your best source for the all answers You’re looking for.
