snoring is a indicator of sleep apena especially if your over weight, but that doesn't mean that everybody who snores has sleep apena. People with sleep apena have a greater chance of heart attack, stroke, depression, and erectile dysfunction. If a person thinks he may have sleep apena, go get a sleep study so that you can be treated for it. Treatment is wearing a mask hooked to a c-pap machine.

I have worked for both Swift and Marten and I made more money at Swift and was treated better at Swift. You will get more miles at Swift and they do alot of drop and hooks.

You are incorrect about everything you just said. What is not fair and an invasion of privacy? It's there company policy to give a sleep study test, if you do not like it, then don't fill out a app. and go else where. You also stated that if a driver is found to snore that he/she will fail the test. again you are wrong. I just took a sleep study test on my own accord and it is done on two parts. First when you sleep you are checked for any sleep disorders. The second part is IF they find any episodes of sleep apnea or disorder they wake you up and fit you with a mask and check you again for the rest of your sleep study. If you snore and have no sleep apnea or disorders which the test will verify how is a driver going to fail? You should get your facts together before you come on the internet and talk with misinformation, it will help you, not people like me in the know, and that goes with anything in life. A company that i had a talk with said that if a new hire went to a sleep study and had sleep apnea, he/she would have to get a cpap and have a chip put in it to have it checked for compliance as in to see if you are useing it. If Martin does not hire because of apnea then that's there policy.

The only marten terminal at this time doing sleep apena testing for new hires is in atlanta. The other terminals are not doing it yet. If it is found that you have sleep apena, then marten foots the bill. So, bottom line, if your fat and have sleep apena, that does not prevent you from getting hired at marten. Getting treated for it is a good thing cause you'r gonna live alot longer!

So what if you are like me, 5-11 and 180#. Not over weight, in shape, and no sleeping disorders. Does Marten still make you get tested? Just curious. I am in the Atlanta area btw.

That is a good thing that Martin will still hire a driver with sleep apnea. It seems all the big carriers are jumping on the band wagon with this. I was told today that i have it and have to get fitted with a mask. I have put on weight through out the years and this is getting me to get serious about getting in shape. The only problem with this is i think some companies will not hire you as i read about a new hire that got turned down at Schneider. Don't know all the facts with that one. Companies should not turn a driver away as long the driver is compliant with the cpap use.

I'm not a Martin driver or a employee but i will stick my neck out and say no. Your best bet would be to call Martin and find out.I know sleep study costs a lot of money and i could not see how Martin could pay for all new hires. I think back in '03 that sleep study was around $3,000 or so.
