Not sure which company to go with. Should I go with the larger, micro managing Martenor the smaller, higher paying, more liberal family-owned J.R. Schugel?

I find both positive and negative posts on both companies. Have received job offers from both and trying to figure which one is a better fit for me and my family. Marten does have a terminal here in INDY but with Schugel I have to find someplace to keep the truck when on hometime. Have someone that works for Schugel that lives in the general area but I can never catch them near their truck so I can get their feedback. I can only advise you to go through the various posts on here and get a feel for both. and realize that alot of the time, those that are really happy where they are, don't come on here and let us know the good things about their company. That's the only downside I see. Good luck to you whatever you decide. -
Thanks.

There is a JR Schugal driver in my town. He's been with them for a few years now. He must be at least satisfied with them. I haven't gotten hold of him yet to ask.

I know someone who left Marten after many years to drive for J&R Schugel. He is MUCH HAPPIER now.
I drove for Marten Transport just long enough to find out how bad they really are. Never again.skibum_63 Thanks this. -

I will have been with J&R Schugel 4 years on the 19th of this month.
Pretty happy with them, there not perfect but there a GOOD fit for me.
Not sure where your from, but they do have options for you depending on where you live(Regional,OTR,Weekly) I'm on the dry side out 5 to 6 days and then home for 2. -
I'm thinking about going to Marten, are there any drivers or recent drivers that worked here give me some info. Orientation, Training, home time, equipment etc.

short regioanl runs, LOTS of Rail loads picked up / dropped off by otr. Sitiing alot of weekends, stuck in the same region for weeks, getting home when you have appoinments made, for get it. and forced perdeim. If this fits you, then yes by all means go for it. But chances are very good, you'll be posting here under a differant frame of mind.
