I agree.I don't have weight issues but this clearly is discrimination.Did you have to pay for the treatment or does the company?

Hmmm... did they grab the person and strap them to a gurney and make them take the sleep study? They could have simply walked off.. Its amazing the number of people who show up to trucking company orientations with no clue of what they are doing or even what to ask. the choice is simple.. If my heart was set on the company and they required the test, then I'd take the test.. anyone at this point who doesn't think that there ARE companies requiring these tests for employment and or RECERTIFICATION during their DOT physicals are just being child like and rube-ish. Pretend all you like, get upset all you like, have all the tantrums that you like... you'll end up right back where you started and either take the test or change careers at some point.

So then you can't really provide a correct answer to my test question. That's OK, I understand you want to be a good little sheep and not make waves, just do as you're told even if you don't know what it is you are being told to do, just follow the herd, don't worry about that big bloody blade waiting for you up there at the top of that ramp........go ahead, move along I promise you will be OK.........WHACK, OOPS, I LIED!!!!!

What happens if they change the proposed guidelines for the next sheep in line just after you got whacked........nothing is written in stone as of yet, things change, especially with these kinds of issues, Heck they're still fighting over the HOS changes from 10 years ago. If and when there is ever an actual regulation decided on then I will abide, but all of this sleep apnea stuff is completely arbitrary, merely at the whim of some doctor you may not even know.

Get back to me when you understand the difference between a regulation, a recommendation and a proposed guideline.
I'll probably be retired by then.

The only big thing changing for sure right now regarding medical qualifications is that as of the first of the year doctors wishing to do DOT Physicals will have to purchase a License ($795 a year) from the Feds and be included on an approved list.

They are simply chasing a lot of smaller private physicians out of the game and catering to the DOT clinics and testing mills who will go along with the fraud, graft and corruption built into the system. Once again this goes to show it's all about money, simple as that. Who is gonna divide up more of your hard earned dollars all in the name of safety and the children......but that's OK, just keep the blinders on.

Gee.. I figured after supposedly being in the industry for 10 years you'd understand how things work.. but you'd rather not and pretend that like the real sheep, if you bleat enough and loud enough that someone will care that you think you're a victim and come your aid.. Well, this is why we have all these HOS changes and now medical requirements stemming from the fatigue and human physiology research on the transportation issues. The drivers were weak and unable to say "no" and would work for their masters like abused wives work for their abusive husbands.. now that they have called the "cops", they are shocked when the cops take action. You suckers are bailing out and excusing your abusers... poor little victims call down the thunder on the industry and now don't like the rain.. LOL!!! Rough tough trucker victims always make me laugh!! The drivers called in the government to save them.. well kiss your savior's feet as they have arrived.. and i am thoroughly enjoying the hysterics and theatrics from both the drivers who were good little boys for their masters and now the masters who have no idea how to run their trucking companies without all the suckers working for free as long as they have some chicken lights and a chrome bumper..

Some of us don't need a company to make a living, some of us are actually more than capable of doing so on our own, this does not make us rebels, it merely makes up independent of many of the binds of corporate America, however when our ability to earn a living is threatened by more and more intrusion seeking a solution to a problem that as of yet is not proven to exist then yes, I am going to fight back. The last thing I want to happen is to kill, injure or maim someone through my ignorance........if I even had and inkling I had a health issue that would endanger the motoring public then I would immediately have it addressed, but I don't need some govt. hacks telling me I suffer from some kind of newly invented affliction just so they can justify their own lame existence.

OK, I get it......you're an outsider who evidently can't even get qualified to turn a steering wheel taking your frustrations out on some who can actually think for themselves......OK, fine, I'm done with you......until now I wasn't aware I was dealing with a delusional soul possessing the brainpower of a pea.

If a company requires such a test then that's not a problem if they posted it on their web site along with you the driver pays for it.Then of course use your own judgement if the company is for you or not.Drivers don't think to ask them about this test because this is relatively new. It's targeted at overweight ppl and that's a form of discrimination.

You are so knowledgeable about regulation you know soon copies of a driver's physical will be sent electronically to the driver's state DMV and lnked to his CDL . If a driver is disqualified or given a 3 month card he won't have much choice .
It isn't just the cost of the initial tests . Required follow up tests are required to document effective treatment . Who in their right mind would go through this expense to work for a bottom feeder OTR starter carrier ?
