I worked for marten for 6 years and loved it. took 2 years off to start my own business. came back 9 monts ago and #### have they changed. they put me on a reginal run, which is fine as long as im movin. problem is im not longest run ive ever recieved was 1100 miles. that picked up on a thurs and del on monday..i live 20 minutes from the terminal and i never make it past the house. did i mention they gave me a 06 freight shaker with 700,000 miles on it? how about the truck breaking down on a fri and since i was close to home they refused to pay me for breakdown pay..its sad cause i really used to like the company. but now its time to go..average miles for reginal is 16-1800..if thats ok for you then go for it.. its not for me..

I learned my lesson from Marten, and drvrtech, its not really about the accidents, its the fact that they lied and made it sound worse than it really was, and the fact that I didnt get a warning. My only mistake with marten was trying to do the right thing by telling them.

Interesting information here about Marten, just purchased a Marten trailer.

Hmm.. I had a nice talk with a Marten driver when I was in Cheyenne. She really enjoys working with the company. Then again she came from CR England so I guess that's a step up?

74dred the so called sliding PAY SCALE is listed on their WEB SITE ( previously noted as well by another poster ) so I cannot see how it was a surprise to you , had you done any pre applying look over.
Morella posted "All of our miles are going to be the same length!" yes they all are 5280 Feet in length -
Any ways, you hit the pole, you were in control of the truck, it's your fault.
What you did is considered a PREVENTABLE acceident. if you didn't do it, then explain how the damage was done while you were driving. -
I didnt drive and hit a pole, what happened was I was at the hersey warehouse in mechanicsburg pa, I went in and they said I had to go out and clean the trl, so I went out and clean it, and instead of going out on the main highway and turning around, I went up this driveway and tried to back up and turn around, it was a bad storm all day and one my tires got stuck and I couldnt get out, and instead of dealing with the idiots at breakdown, I let the truck roll back so I can get out, and the d/s of trk got scrapped against the pole, I didnt run into it, it just scrapped some paint off, and safety told me that if it was going to go on my record, they would send something over the qualcomm and they never did. I didnt even know it was counted against me, and that goes for the other 2 I got into.

At the ontario yard alot of the time you can't wash your truck because the dude that preps the trucks for the new hires parks in the wash bay to do his "detail work". Speaking of ontario, that place is getting worse by the day. Its getting almost impossible to get in there to drop a trailer. They are stackin em' one in front of the other and any avaliable spot. One fool even dropped his trailer in the fuel area. Its becoming a common occurance for somebodys hood to get smashed in there.
I counted about 15 trucks with trailers parked out on hellman street. When the city starts cracking down on parking in the street, then maybe Marten will start looking for another yard. but if you talk to the terminal manager there, he says there are no plans for a new terminal. By the way, if you ever have a problem in ontario, don't ask the terminal manager for any help cause you won't get any.skibum_63 Thanks this. -
Sounds like business is good at Marten. I heard they opened a bunch of terminals in the last year. At least somebody is growing.
