martin transport, inc. Is it that awful?

Any owner operators with Martin

 

I can tell you first hand bout Martin transport out of Kilgore tx.

Positive:

Orientation is a week long, they put u in a nice private hotel, feed u good everyday. Cover alot of hazmat info, tanker info. How to use peoplenet system. Etc.
Ins is 89 a week for decent med ins, if u go with vision and dental it will b over $100 a week.

Negative:
Most loads are percentage pay, but they won't tell you wat the load pays. You won't know until u get ur pay check.
You will b out a few weeks at a time to make any money (they pay you 10% more if you stay out more than 14 days at a time)
No holiday pay unless you work the holiday
They tell you that u will get a discount at advanced auto parts and oreily auto parts... That may be in Texas but it is not everywhere.
Everything goes thru the terminal manager but you are dispatched from Kilgore.
They don't cross dispatch, so say you get a good long load, from sc to Colorado. Takes 3 days to get there, but once you are there you will come back 3 days empty!

Overall if your in Texas and get on local may b an ok deal, but if your in Chattanooga Tennessee, if you want to make more than $400 a week expect to b out for weeks at a time. Maybe good for some, but not for me.
