Thanks to you and your wacko associates from CARB....O/O's like myself are getting screwed with your regulations...
Our engines are all POS.....
I was informed by a Cummins rep that over 50% of all trucks requiring service at Cummins are EGR failure related issues....
Downtime is killing us Ms. Nichols....Unlike you and the rest of your taxpayer supported cohorts....We O/O's have to work for a living....
We can't afford to miss a week of work....
Your over-regulations regarding truck engines are killing us....Mandating unnecessary crap on engines that cause multiple problems..
The EGR coolers are junk....They cause a cooler combustion....Resulting in more soot....So then you mandated DPF's which are also failing at a less-than-acceptable rate....The end result...More downtime...More lost revenue....
What say you and your fellow supporters in government?

I know....My EGR cooler failed on my 1 ton two years ago.....Ford had to pay for it...It was still under warranty....
My Pete however is not as "lucky"....
It's been in the Cummins shop since Monday....Initially it "coded" the EGR valve (Just replaced at Grand Junction Pete on the 8th of this month)...the EGR cooler....Now the VGT is wacked out on tolerances..so that has to be replaced....
On top of that...I'm fighting a warranty registration issue with Peterbilt....
However...The GM at Rush Tulsa....Is seeing what he can do to help....
Cummins CAL-Pacific-Bloomington (I absolutely refuse to take any of my equipment to Rush Pete in Fontana...They suck!!!!!...Their wait-time is ridicules...Three days....) deserves a big time hat tip though....Deanna at CCP is earning her pay +++++++

How old is old?
You can't legally run a mechanical engine in Cali.....
In 2014...The oldest engine you can have is an '07 EPA.....
I think that Nichols and CARB are out to shut the trucking and construction bizzes out of Cali....
Price out a DPF for a CAT Heavy Duty Engine like one you would find on a D12 High-track.....
It will make you sick......
Not only that....CARB considers the "Useful Life" of equipment from trucks to dozers as 10 Years!!!!!

I worked for contractors that had trucks from the 40's-70's...Dozers....Blades....Sidebooms from the 50's......And they still all ran....And they were all PAID FOR....EARNING MONEY...NOT COSTING MONEY!!!!!!
However CARB thinks that PACCAR....CAT....JD....Among the other OE's...Just give this stuff away......

This issue is another reason why I tell brokers that anything under $2/m is cheap.....And some of them say I'm "greedy".....
Many of my shippers and receivers now require CARB/EPA compliant rigs....Yet the brokers still think that $1/m "cuts it" for a rate......

CARB is the "brainchild" of Governor Moonbeam back during his first term as governor of Cali in the early 70's....The EPA modeled their regs after CARB....
My wife's cousin's husband works for AQMD in Diamond Bar Cali.....The AQMD thinks Nichols is a living "Goddess"...
