i need to let everyone know about my experience with mason dixon and the owner operators that i ran under. i had to leave the owners truck and trailer in a city that was 350miles away from my home town, and his property. he never keep enough fuel in the truck to even finish the load that was already loaded on the flatbed, he didn't want to pay for tarping(totall BS), did not want to keep his equip in safe and legal operating condition. immediately i knew that i had to leave this owner. we made a agreement that i would be paid after every load was delivered, well that was short lived. he reneged on this asap. he tried every way possible not to pay me, continued to lie me all day long, while trying to get mason dixon to credit him fuel, this guy had no operating money of his own, to even pay the driver, let alone operating expenses. he had me waiting 10 hrs feeding a bunch of BS, how he was sending me a comcheck with my money from the load i had just delivered. his truck was on empty (less than 20gal) so i decided that the last load would not be scanned so that he could get paid. i took greyhound, and had to leave the truck. this was by far the worst experience that i had, being 350miles from home, no fuel to drive , not being paid for work that was done.........did i have any other choice, i did tell him were the truck was and decided to move on...........Beware of Mason Dixon and those owners who enjoy saving money at the expense of the driver.......more to come

I'm not understanding how you are placing blame for any of this on Mason Dixon. The O/O that hired you to drive his truck is the guilty party and the only one responsible for paying you.:biggrin_2554:

This isn't a Mason Dixon problem UNLESS they make it theirs by you writing them a letter outlining the problems in a more concise way to them so they can bring in the O/O and have a sit down with him.
Now what you REALLY need to do is start over and start a new thread with the owners name and city and even the name of his company or LLC but also add that information to this thread.
But as the others also said don't blame mason Dixon on this. Sometimes the company doesn't have a clue as to what the contractors are doing to their hired help!
You also need to send a complaint to his BBB in his county and state and also on Ripoff report and a few other trucking forums about this loser!
One other thing if he does give you a check but maybe with holds some extra money make a copy of the check and routing numbers because if you need to take him to small claims court you need these numbers if he doesn't pay you when he has to if you win and with those numbers and you take them to the court house they can file a garnishment against the guy and you get any money he has in that account totaling what he owes you.
The great thing about this is he'll start to bounce checks all over the place as he won't know about it until the banks letter arrives at his mailbox! I died laughing when it happened to an O/O back in 87 I had to drag to court! He lost all his equipment when they repoed them!

It sounds like there is more than this poster is telling. Most owner operators will take care of their drivers unless something else is going on. Mason Dixon doesn't have anything to do with this. You should have contacted Mason Dixon when you started having problems rather than walking away and abandoning the truck. I would expect that Mason Dixon would have been willing to help you and perhaps even find another owner operator who would hire you as long as you had a good record of pickup and deliveries with them.

yes mason dixon was contacted by me, told me there was nothing they could do nothing to insure that the guy would pay me. they did offer to find another O/O close to where i live. i had already set up other employ with another company out of dallas, even before i told this jerk that i was not comfortable with the way that he does business. there is nothing wrong with my record of pickup and deliveriies, with MADL or any company that i worked for. they wanted me to stay, the fleet mgr was a great person, i can longer go back to them, and thats okay with me. just seem to think if lease your truck to a company, it should be physically inspected by said company rather than just sending in some paperwork (too easy to get around the obvious)

Seems to me like Mason Dixon should have at least got a way for that load to get to the consignee . . .then backcharged the inconvenience to the o/o . .maybee even get the driver onto another fleet o/o or something . . . .right?

Yeah Skull . ..that's the right attitude! Just keep being safe- know your value 'cause this job really affords a great reward in knowing that we save companies hundreds of thousands of dollars by applying our safe techniques on these increasingly hazardous roads as well as (and more important) human lives . . .You can and should take every bit of credit for that!Nobody talks or seems interested in this fact but we drivers KNOW we do very good and noble work out here because we really care!
If we got paid based on how many lives saved and/or monies spared-you would all be very wealthy people indeed. But I say if you are a driver that cares and does these things for this great cause . . .YOU ALREADY ARE WEALTHY!Keep your head up! You are absolutely precious to the world! Our bros and sistas rely on our good senses-and it is something the companies can never lay claim to . . .it's ours and we should take pride in this-for it has a pure and REAL value . . .

All companies don't have someone with the certification requirements to do inspections. They send you to the TA or someplace that does.:biggrin_25526:
