I do know an apple store would not sell me a battery that they had in stock for me to install it. They had to install it or no deal……

Air bags definitely went up. I bought one last year for one of my trailers and remember flinching at the $130 for one bag. Same bag a few days ago was $190. Same TruckPro store too. Brake drums have also gone up more than I deem reasonable. Couple years ago I gave $75 a pop. Now $200.

Daimler lets any registered owner have access to vin specific diagrams, wiring harnesses, parts lookup, etc for free using DTNAConnect. If your local dealer connects itself to your Excelerator parts lookup, you can see the price and availability at the dealer, as well as DC’s. Software is cheap <$600 a year as well. By easily looking up part numbers in Excelerator, I can then search the net for cheaper, but rarely find it. I needed a Y pipe recently. Only ones in stock were at a Canada DC. Aftermarket had it cheaper, but after shipping, it was far more expensive than OEM. Calgary to Orlando, shipped free, in 5 or so days.

I believe it was Ford, but one manufacture tried to push for locking up the ecm’s a few years back. Their thought process was that while you own the vehicle & ecm, they own the software and basically allow you to use it. Like the o.s. On your cell phone or computer. You own the device and are a registered user of the software.
I forget now, this was probably in the early 2010’s. If i remember correctly, they were going after aftermarket tuners. Trying to put a stop to people being able to re-write the factory tune.Siinman Thanks this. -

injectors $1400 a piece up from 700 last year. Transmissions 6500 for a simple 2 speed automatic. Rebuild kits for transmission 3800. Dealer costs, now you know a markup is coming to end consumer. shop rate is now $175 an hour almost as bad as the big truck shops.
We use 100% Mobil products. Up until this year now it’s whatever we can order and it’s rationed out by the bulk distributor. Oil, grease, coolant and many other product. Supplies are getting tighter.autopaint, Getsinyourblood, Midwest Trucker and 1 other person Thank this.
