I understand how you feel, but they loose almost as many as they bring on. So on paper they are probably not increasing the fleet that much.

There is truth to what you are saying. I could have planned it so that I could not have been available by just slowing down so I could not be in position to get the last load but I am not wired like that....lol

First full year with Maverick 102,463 miles $50,171.00. I know that I can do better this year for several reasons. First of all I have a new truck now, last year I averaged a breakdown every 10K miles. Secondly, I now know the system.

I was in glass until July then went to flatbed. And to answer your next question, I make just as much in flatbed as I did in glass but I get to go home nearly every weekend.

    vhughes and ATX Thank this.

Hubby got his own truck mid Jan 2012. These numbers reflect a new driver working up the pay scale their 1st year.

    100,183 miles
    stop off-420.00
    tarp-2970.00
    Breakdown-176.00
    detention-40.00
    short mile-381.93
    weekend 110.94
    Gross-44,107.29

Hopefully he will get a new truck this year and he can get the fuel bonus. Next year should be better. Will be at top pay starting the year and a whole lot faster securing and tarping.

The weekends at home are definitely a big plus. Is the physical exertion about the same in both glass and flatbed? Thanks!

I'd say it's about the same, neither is easy. 1/3 of what you haul in glass is the same freight as flatbed. These are your back hauls when you have a flat or step deck trailer.

    ATX Thanks this.
