My husband's miles have been so crappy lately that he is considering other companies. Which is sad because he loves Maverick. This will be the third week in a row that he was empty on Thursday morning (with a full clock), sat all day waiting for a load, then finally gets one that delivers Monday. Yeah he gets home early but we have no money to go do anything. I say to him "Talk to your fm" but he says it does no good. I mean what the heck is going on??? You would think that Maverick would get on their fm's to give these guys miles (more $ for them too). Hubby is not out there goofing off either. He leaves Sunday to start Monday with a full clock, etc., so it's nothing on his end. It makes no sense.
I'm right there with you. I came home empty yesterday afternoon. I just looked back and checked....I've been over 2000 miles twice since the first week of February and have been hung out 3 times. I was hung out 2 of the last 3 weekends and didn't break 2000 any of those weeks. Also, I've had zero service failures since I've been here and always deliver on time Monday. People can get on here and say whatever they want. It is very obvious Maverick does not have enough freight to keep up with the amount of drivers they are hiring. They started 27 more last week! I'm not bashing, just stating facts. I do like Maverick also, and I think they are a great company. I just think freight is still not where it needs to be and they need to slow down on new hires a little bit. I am switching to a dedicated account and if it doesn't work out the way I was told it would, I may have to do something else also. I really hope it doesn't come down to that, but I need to make more money than I currently am.
What kind of low miles are you talking? What's his average miles besides the last 3 weeks? Do you ever get to ride with him to see exactly how his day goes? I'm not saying it's his fault, I don't know anything about him except for what you say but leaving on a Monday with a full clock is normal for just about everyone unless running recaps. Is he on time for all his deliveries? Where does he deliver? Long wait times at shipper or receiver? If he is not happy and he has talked to his FM and is still not happy go to whoever the next higher up person is. I'm sure another driver can tell you the right channels. It's worth a try before just leaving.
Also, as far as leaving Sunday to start Monday with a full clock, it makes nothing any better for me. I have actually had my best weeks when I have left home at 2-3am and drove to my Monday delivery! Again, just stating the facts! Also, starting that early in the morning at the beginning of the week makes it a lot easier for me to find parking in the evening.
