    @ rileyrampage:
I think your mind is already made up. Go Maverick.
You will NOT be dissapointed with your decision. I have been here since late November 2011. No prior trucking experience. Not a big guy myself- 5'10" 160lbs. I have no problems doing the job- but don't get me wrong.. it is not easy- I think it takes a certain breed to do this from my experience. You will be PROUD to be a Maverick. I know that I am.

And Sarge is an excellent trainer- I know firsthand.

and, to get back to the theme of this thread- due to the july 4th holiday this week, did not get many miles, but I did get to see the family alot this week. That trumps miles for me IMO.

Sometimes tarping in the glass division is a real #####. You have to throw a 80 pound tarp on your shoulder then climb a ladder and place it on top of the glass. Being 5'4" wouldn't make much difference as long as you are strong enough to do this. The only other problem I could see you having is securing on a flatbed, the flatbed is over 5' in the middle, but I guess you can overcome this with a small step ladder. With the right attitude you should be fine.

Trying to get used to these boards and keep losing my place...now bookmarked! Hubby is now headed to Kansas with Bobby. They left yesterday and spent the night in Corbin, Ky. or close by. He is loving being behind the wheel...his instructor is very nice and down to earth and oh my gosh, has a fishing pond on his property. Speedy is a BIG fisherman so now I may not even see him when he comes home on the weekends...(just kidding). So far so good! Safe travels!

My hubby is 5'5" and has no problem with tarping and securing on the flatbed. Sometimes he does let the air out of the trailer to make it easier (lower by 4-5"). It depends on the trailer. A couple of sayings come to mind: Be smarter then what your working with and If there is a will there is a way.

@speedbabe- Glad everything is working out for him.

578 miles. Got stuck in MI over the weekend with a unload time of 04:00 Tuesday. Got there Friday evening with hopes of unloading early, no dice. So I told FM to gove me a load on Mon and I'd take off with tue after I unload the other trailer. I was at a glass plant where we have a drop yard. Well that request was way too far outside the box. So had to wait till 03:00 tue to enter plant. They started unloading me around 08:00 and finished at 10:00. Then I went back outside and waited for next load assignment. When I finally got it it was for 12:00 and took 5 hours. Got to receiver the following morning (another glass plant) this was July 4th. The. Got a message to drop loaded trailer, pick up empty and head to the house. So mileage was terable but home time has been great. By the way, I was at that plant in MI for over 70 hours, that shattered my record of 53 that I did down in TX one time.

2350 last week. Didn't get home on the 4th and didn't make it home this weekend either. My choice really...I was in Minnesota on thursday, next work assignment was to pick up in Wisconsin and deliver in Oklahoma. They asked if I wanted to keep it or have them find a swap. Figured I might as well run it, versus get home late saturday and risk no restart.

I just got home yesterday evening after being out for my first six weeks solo (mostly by choice since I'm the only one @ home). I'm in the temp control division. I figured my average miles for these six weeks and it came out to roughly 2650/wk. not bad for a old newbie. I gotta agree with some of the posts ^^^^^ for anyone outside of Maverick looking at coming to the company: I don't think you'll be disappointed with them regardless of which division you choose.

Now, what to do with 3 more days off...
