Maverick runs all autos. These are clutch pedalless "automatics". Once you get the hang of driving them you'll ask yourself what all the fuss was about. Once upon a time the autos for big trucks were truly junk but nowadays they do the job quite well taking the stress off a driver some especially in traffic backups. I sometimes wish my KW had one.
Maverick for Rookie? I dunno

We had a Maverick recruiter visit our school today. He said the oldest truck is an 07, there are only about 90 07models left in their fleet which they are phasing out. All trucks are automatics. Most of the fleet are 2010-2012 freightliners with EPU's not APU's. EPU's run off the batteries not diesel fuel in case you didn't know. All 2010 and up models have six AC and 6 DC electrical outlets. Avg pay 40k+ per year, weekly mile avg 2200-2600. Detention Pay, Tarp Pay, breakdown, etc. They do not garauntee you home everyweekend but they do try to get you home. If you are out on the weekend, you are garaunteed 800 miles of pay. Meaning if you only drive 300 or 400 miles on the weekend, they will still pay you for 800 miles at your mileage pay. Granted all these quotes are for Flatbed Division. But I know to take everything a recruiter says with a grain of salt. But out of all the recruiters that have came to see us, Maverick seems to be a good place to be.

Everything that you said the recruiter told you is true. Maverick is upfront about everything. They are picky and expect your best. A bad attitude or laziness will get you a bus ticket home.

Technically as seweman would say, they are auto shifters....not automatics!

I spoke with Jeff today in recruiting, he gave me some more information on Maverick. He was very nice and knowledgeable. I explained to him my situation that I would not be able to start until June, due to being a single dad, I have to make arrangements for my son to stay with his grandparents. Jeff said that was perfectly fine and to just fill out the application about 3 weeks before I was ready to start. I have some apps in with some local LTL companies that I have some friends working for. I hoping for something local, but not getting my hopes up for that. Looks like i'll probably be bound for Little Rock in June, which is just fine with me

Finally somebody sees the big picture you are looking at the right way. Start with a good company and stay there that way you will make top scale in a few years and have a nice vacation time. The trick is starting with the right Company. Have been with maverick for years and I would say they're the best for flatbed.Hightower Thanks this. -
I couldn't agree more with grusco. I hope by living near Chicago I can get in the door quickly. I really like the looks of Maverick
