especially when because the shop guys at the closest T/A are on a first name basis with you because you bring the trailers in there to get things fixed that other drivers just left in need of repair . LOL

No. He's going to a place called New Process on Valley Rd.

Not much to report this morning. Redcoat is making his way down I-65 and just went by Huntsville. He plans on staying at the Flying J just south of Birmingham while he resets.

I'm going to put in a call to his FM Monday morning to see what the chances are of getting him to North Carolina next weekend. Redcoat says he was told at orientation that he could go somewhere besides home 3 times in a quarter and I want to get clarification on that. Unless somebody in here who drives for Maverick has any knowledge of this???

I have a piece of advice for newbie flatbed drivers. It was something that Redcoat quickly found out and that is when you go to a shipper/receiver make sure everybody knows it is your first time there. Redcoat has decided that most of the folks he deals with these days are fairly friendly or at the very least cordial. Totally opposite from the people he dealt with while working for Covenant. If the people there know you are new, they will tell you where to go and what you need to do. So will the other drivers if you also let them know it's your first time there.

Anyway, RC ran into one of the guys he went through orientation with and they were comparing notes. They found out they've been going to a lot of the same places but one in particular the two men had vastly different experiences. Redcoat managed to get several words of wisdom from a couple of the other drivers that saved him a LOT of extra work.

Unfortunately the other young man wasn't so lucky. This was the place where you have to go weigh before getting loaded, get loaded, scan the bar codes on the load to get your paperwork, and then weigh again. (or something along those lines) First this young man got into the wrong line to get weighed before he got loaded. A man on an ATV drove out to him to pull him out of the line and directed him to the correct scales. So that wasted a bunch of his time. Then nobody told him about scanning the bar codes. So he got loaded, chained, tarped, etc. and when he went to go weigh, they asked him for his paperwork and of course he didn't have it. He ended up having to untarp and also had to remove the trip chain? so he could get to the bar code. Then he had to put everything back the way he had it and get in line again to weigh. HOURS worth of wasted effort.

That's my story for the day. Stay tuned.

New Prosses Steel, is in US. Steel property. The directions from Maverick are good. So tell Redcoat , when he go's under the railroad bridge, the gate is to the right you will think you are going into US. Steel both US Steel and New Prosses is in the same place. You have to stop at the gate and they will tell you where to go for New Prosses Steel. Then with any luck you will get loaded right out of the same place.

I AM A FLATBEDDER, I TRAVEL WITH ALL EQUIPMENT NECCESSARY. CHAINS (FOR THE UNRULEY ONES), STRAPS (FOR THE SEMI-UNRULEY ONES), AND TARPS (FOR THE ONES NOT TO BE SEEN WITH YOU)!

I have done that a few times. Just give them enough notice. At least a couple weeks. (the more notice the better) I live in West KY and have requested time in Ar and IN when my wife and kid was traveling to visit family. Mav will work with you if they have enough time and can pull it off.

Again, there would be no need to advertise if drivers weren't leaving. Now that is just common sence!
