Latest update.
Redcoat arrived in Saxonburg, PA in plenty of time to drop off he load. He had a bit of an adventure on the way when he got pulled over on I-79. The statie said his trailer lights weren't working and he made Redcoat get all his logs and paperwork, they walked back to the cruiser, and Redcoat got to sit in the car while the nice policeman went through all his paperwork. Everything was in order and he wrote Redcoat a warning for the lights. RC said another 20 minutes and he would have shut his lights off anyway. He had trouble with them a couple trips back and the T/A folks worked on them for him. Must not have done a very good job. Redcoat got under there and repaired a bad wire as best he could. He had to send the warning ticket to Maverick by snail mail.
Other from that, he made his delivery of bags and bags of some kind of black powdery stuff. He said that when he was in Lake Charles picking it up, he tracked all that mess into his truck when he had to get in and out of it so many times to weigh, load, strap, tarp, weigh, plus it was raining so all that muck got everywhere. RC said it was disgusting and he vacuumed it all out as soon as he got the chance.
Tonight Redcoat is staying at a Pilot somewhere nearby waiting until the morning when he should get another dispatch.
I'm really starting to like Google Maps. When Redcoat was almost to Mississippi, there was an accident on I-10 so he fired up the CB to see how all the other truckers were going around it. He called me to check the route they were recommending and I saw that there was another way he could go since everything was backed up as trucks were trying to get back on to the interstate after the detour. I zoomed in on another road to make sure there weren't any bad turns and advised him to keep going down the road he was on to the next intersection and he could get back up on I-10 three exits down from where he got off. Seeing trucks in the pictures let me know that trucks were allowed on the road and he made the detour with no delays and kept going on his way without a hitch.
Teamwork.
Thanks for the info on the holidays. I was wondering if Maverick shut it down or if they kept folks out in the system.
Stay tuned.

Latest update.
Redcoat is on his way to Majestic Steel in near Cleveland, OH. Picks up there this morning and takes the load to Burgaw, NC which is about a hundred miles down I-40 from Raleigh. That means he gets to spend the weekend at home which is a good thing. Only bad thing is he doesn't have enough hours to make it from Cleveland to Raleigh by tonight so he won't get here until Saturday morning. Still, it gives him two days at home.
Wow. He's gotten home twice in the same month. Already a huge improvement from Covenant.
Now where's my honey-do list.....
Stay tuned. -
I hope he doesn't have to go on the part of I-40 that is going to be closed for several weeks due to the rock slide. I heard it is a real PITA right now.
