Most of them are autos. I think the last year they had manuals was the 05's. I road tested in a manual 10 speed. I had 2 trucks with them. A 06 and a 07. Both of them were autos.

Redcoat knows he's still got a lot to learn and is always ready to take constructive criticism. It just REALLY pissed him off that here he was taking the man's advice and re-doing the securement, and the dude STILL reported him anyway. That just ruined his whole day for him.
At least Safety told him that they weren't going to put it into his record (or whatever).
Oh yeah and Redcoat DOES drive an automatic. He hopes that soon he'll get a newer truck that will be able to pull the hills better than the one he has now. -
Sorry that Rc. had to run into such a a-hole. That could be why the other guy USE to be a instructor trainer... ! Don't let someone like that get you down. My oppionion is RC has been doing a great job. I hope the other driver got his ### chewed out for doing what he did by, calling safety when it was unnessary. When his own load wasn't up to Mavericks safety requirment standers. Maverick drivers should be helping each other, not screw each other. Some only feel better about themselfs when they put others down. I myself, point out a mistake and offer to help him fix the problem. The only time I will call, is when the other driver tells me to get screwed and he tell me he is not going to fix it to Mavericks standers, then I will tell the guy we will fix it or I will call safety. As Maverick drivers we are to lend a hand not point fingers at each other.
sarge26044 Thanks this. -
Even if he had just used straps and had them padded he would of been ok.
Run a chain over the front of the pallett for stopping measures. tarp and go.
But every comp[any has their own rules.
Why the guy had to call in after Redcloud did change it is beyond me.
I think this guy needs to get a flatbed attuide adjustment..
That means a binder pipe to the knees. Oh he fell of the trl. that's what I saw. HaHa -
One of the reasons I left Maverick. Had a driver call in once because I was doing things right, and he was not.
More often than not, I would get help from another companies driver than a maverick driver. They would just sit in the truck and watch you fight a tarp in the wind. Then get upset with you when you would not help them. Yep called in on that one too.
Oh yeah almost forgot about the "file" Ask your FM about the file. See if they will let you have a copy of it, or better read it from the computer.
You would be surprised what is in the "file" -
I think every company has the "FILE"
Been given "atta boys" and was told they were putting it in the file.
Hate to see the amount of "oh craps" in there also.. -
RCW, now that things have settled down for you u can u tell us how RC has been doing for miles compared to Covenant & his settlements, have those been better than what he was getting b4.. I know this time of year it's slow for everyone & the weather can cut into miles, but is he doing better than he expected or just about what he thought he could do his 1st year driving there?
.. Mayb newb flatbedders need some kind of sticker in their window or on the side of their sleeper showing they are a 1st yr flatbedder (known only to Mav drivers of course), that way they will get help 1st b4 being called in to safety for a company policy or safety violation? Probably wouldn't fly but it's just a thought, seems it would save a lot of miss-communication from everyone involved in these types of incidents..sarge26044 Thanks this. -
I am a Gas Hauler in Savannah GA, we are a pretty tight knit group and I am spoiled. IF a driver sees one of us doing something unsafe or working harder that we need to, someone will bring it to our attention, with out no snitching regarless of the Company that we work for. 99% of us will do anything to help another driver out, it is just the norm here in Savannah.
Last week I had to go to another Town to pull a load back to Savannah. The distributor I was pulling out of I didn't have loading privallages there. I call dispatch and about 5 minutes before I get there another driver calls me and says I am on my way out of town, but I will load you. I link up with him and we get to the Terminal and there is another driver there from our Company there loading. We where like what the heck how come you can't load me. He was like I am a million miler and I don't load other trucks. Can't stand Prima Donas. Had to bite real hard on my tounge -
His last statement before Christmas he got 1992 miles and then he was off for ten days during the holiday. After that he got 1764 and then 1331 but those numbers are skewed because of my mother's death and funeral.
This next payday will be the first full week after the funeral so it should be a little better than the last two.
Again, his main complaint so far is just getting "home" to North Carolina. Maverick is a great company to work for but it's not very good for somebody who lives a nomadic lifestyle like I do. It's good that they make serious effort to get their drivers home every weekend but in doing that, they can be fairly rigid in their policy in that "home" MUST be the place on the driver's license. In Redcoat's case, the address on his license is now a place being rented out to a tenant. So he can't go there anymore. It also doesn't make any sense to change his license to North Carolina because I will probably be leaving here sometime in April or May.
If Maverick were a bit more flexible with their policy on where a driver could say his "home" was, then Redcoat would be a much happier camper. As it is now, he has to specifically request home time in the Raleigh area a week in advance and it appears to be very problematic for Maverick to make this adjustment.
Hopefully, by the time summer rolls around, I should be working in the Memphis area so that should help the home time situation between Redcoat and Maverick. The Challenger Thanks this. -
There are a few arse kissers in every crowd...its no different at Maverick.
I've seen guys not doing things quite right (the Maverick way)...I will not hesitate to politely explain what they are doing wrong.
Have I called in on drivers...yes, I have.
But only when it seriously needed to be done (no protection under straps...on a load that most certainly would have cut the straps. I mentioned it to the driver, his reply was "its my load")sarge26044 Thanks this.
